Software Engineer Summer Intern (London)

We offer Software Engineering internships in the following areas within Technology:

Equities Technology develops and supports the platform that enables our businesses to electronically trade most asset classes globally and to manage risk and P&L. Our teams support varies function such as Algorithmic Execution Services, Quality Assurance, Latency Critical Trading Technology, PM Tactical Tools, Systematic Data Platform, Equity Volatility and Convertibles Technology, Production Support and Systems Operations Engineering, Trade Capture, and Risk Management.
• Codebase is written in Java, C++, and Python with Angular & React Front End

Fixed Income & Risk Technology is responsible for building, managing and maintaining systems for Front to back trade processing for the Fixed Income and Commodities business as well as Risk Management for all asset classes and products, ranging from individual trader’s risks, to risk management across the entire... firm.
• Codebase is written in Java, C++, and Python with Angular & React Front End

Corporate Technology develops systems and processes to support the core infrastructure functions within the firm including Treasury, Middle Office, Operations, Finance and Compliance.
• Codebase is written in Java, Scala, C# and Python with Angular Front End

Your work will vary depending on the Technology team you join. The below job responsibilities are examples.

Example Job Responsibilities
• Develop innovative research and trading tools that Portfolio Managers will use to explore new ideas.
• Development of trading infrastructure and monitoring applications
• Automate the creation of end to end trading environments in AWS
• Building out a market leading electronic trading platform
• Buildout the Trade messaging and associated data platforms using Kafka/Solace and Redis/Hazelcast
• Create and modify technology workflows and use cases for trade processing and risk management in the Firm
• Contribute to implementation and enhancement of the firm’s systems through dynamic coding and QA assignments
• Work with PM, Middle Office, Operations, and Risk Management teams to manage issues and understand requirements
• Developing new features and enhancements to critical business applications using a modern front end using Typescript/Javascript/.NET
• Building and integrating development tools to enhance our software development process
• Evaluating and implementing new data warehousing technologies throughout the firm using tools like Spark, Snowflake, Cloudera, Athena, EMR, etc.
• Own and deliver a time-bound project with direct business and technology benefits

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements
• Students in their penultimate year of studies who are interested in a future career at a leading global alternative investment management firm
• Minimum of 2:1 grade or higher
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or other Technology focused areas preferred
• Proficiency in one or more scripting languages preferred
• Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as (C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, etc.)
• Knowledge of SQL preferred
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and analytical skills
• Strong technical skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc
