Assistant Controller – Hybrid

As a key member of the Finance and Accounting team, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for assisting in the management and directing of the general accounting functions for multiple entities within all five regions within the US and Canada. This role will serve as the Assistant Finance lead providing support, analysis and daily oversight to ensure accounting records are complete, accurate and comply with GAAP. 

Hybrid role out of our Minneapolis, MN office.  

Expedition Expectations 

• Assist the Controllership team with preparing and issuing monthly financial statements by generating monthly entries, accruals, preparing reconciliations, reviewing and analyzing transactional data for completeness and accuracy in accordance with US GAAP standards 
• Perform variance analysis of monthly financial statements and ad hoc analysis as required 
• Prepare for annual external audit and assist Controllership team in coordinating activities and reviewing of selections to permit an unqualified opinion from auditing firm 
• Provide technical accounting guidance for staff members of the Finance and Accounting team and assist in staff development and mentoring 
• Lead process improvement efforts for Finance and Accounting organization 
• Assist in acquisitions, integrations, and system implementations as needed 
• Participate in cross company initiatives and special projects as necessary 
• Act as liaison between Finance and Accounting and sales, account management, and operations department 
• Act as the liaison between US and foreign locations, including foreign exchange translation, re-valuation, and intercompany reconciliations 
• Assist in treasury management tasks and responsibilities 
• Manage direct reports and mentor indirect reports 
• Provide guidance to staff members of Finance and Accounting team 
• Other duties as assigned 

 Passport to Success 

• BS/BA degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university 
• Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience demonstrating progression into a Senior level Accountant and/or supervisory/management role 
• Strong technical accounting and financial acumen along with analytical, problem identification and resolution skills 
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills 
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite products with high Excel competencies 
• Self-motivator with the ability to work independently to initiate and drive process improvement and gain efficiencies of the accounting and finance infrastructure 
• Strong organization skills and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines and organizational goals and objectives 

Going the Extra Mile 

• Travel or service industry experience, including experience with Agresso, Central Command, Global Max, Globalware, Trams, Travcom and/or Global Matrix preferred, but not required.
