PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to engage the autism community on Autism Speaks' social networks and website through engaging story-telling content. This includes helping to increase the social media footprint; delivering on mission goals and daily management of various online communities; and assist in creating dynamic multimedia content that will engage audiences across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Engagement
  • Implement Autism Speaks' social media strategy across new and existing social media platforms
  • Be the eyes and ears of Autism Speaks on social media to discover engaging unique user-generated content and conduct outreach to content owners
  • Leverage social media channels to deliver new and innovative ways to support the organization's mission objectives
  • Provide support for field chapter social media efforts by cataloging and coordinating best practices
  • Manage and track social media campaigns in coordination with stakeholders and various agencies
  • Analyze campaigns and provide insights and feedback for future campaigns
  • Work closely with internal departments (primarily in the mission-related, science, advocacy and fundraising areas) on coordination of messaging on appropriate platforms
  • Cover events as needed (rare)

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience:

  • 2 years' experience in digital marketing, Journalism or social media
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging online communities and knowledge of best practices
  • Experience with Adobe software (Photoshop) a plus

  • Video and graphic design knowledge/skills a plus
