Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled .NET Developer to join our team as we strive towards our Powering Progress agenda. In line with this, both of our businesses are actively expanding their utilization of low carbon fuels and solutions to facilitate the decarbonization of our customers’ energy consumption. Additionally, this initiative will generate revenue to support our broader investments in low carbon projects.

Where you fit in

You will sit within Shell's Trading and Supply business, one of the world's largest energy trading operations in the world with key hubs in Singapore, Dubai, Houston, London, and Rotterdam. As a Senior .NET Developer, you will support the Commercial IT Enablement team within Crude and Products businesses which play a crucial commercial role in Shell. The Crude business acts as the sole conduit to global markets for all Shell equity crude, whilst Products acts as the single interface between Shell’s downstream businesses and the global refined oil market.

Our Crude & Products Software Engineering CC builds the software engineering capability required for the solutions of today and the future. We focus on creating quality, secure code; designing and building innovative products, and scalable digital solutions that enable the ambitions for our Crude and Product businesses. Our capability focuses on Native Software Engineering, Power Platform by Microsoft, Salesforce Software Engineering and Crude and Products Core Systems Software Engineering.

These business ambitions and the fast pace at which the energy mix and landscape are evolving will require strong partnership and delivery from our IDT organization. The Trading & Supply Capability Center was established within Information & Digital Engineering (IDE) to grow and mature to meet our Trading & Supply partners' needs. This specialized Capability Center offers our people the opportunity to build deep business domain knowledge and the technical expertise to deliver more, larger, and longer-lasting projects and products in coming years.

What’s the role

As a Software .NET Developer, we expect you to have proven experience in adhering to software engineering best practices, delivering software products/applications generating business value. They are expected to have continuous improvement mindset, driving value-based process, product/application optimization.

Furthermore, your responsibilities include the following:

  • Solution consultation and development in accordance with the enterprise technology principles, methods, standards, and practices

  • Stakeholder Management  - Drives a One Team mindset

  • Business Intelligence - Understands T&S business domain and impacts of industry movements

  • Estimation, solution design, detailed technical design, application technical deliverables including code, associated tests, and documentation

  • Contribution to functional excellence in terms of definition and maintenance of standards, methods and tools, bringing in best practices from market standard implementations.

  • Manage complex integration scenarios and interfaces between on-premises solutions, cloud, and legacy systems

  • Liaise with multiple technology teams, operations, and product contacts of varying degrees of seniority to facilitate project delivery

  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application

  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs

  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation

  • Managing common libraries connecting backend services with GUI

  • Collaborate with the lead functional developer to define, develop, test, and release new features

  • Provide workarounds & bug fixes for urgent production issues

What we need from you

We are eager to hear from candidates who possess a strong background in developing back-end services that are essential for supporting connected applications. Moreover, we are keen to see below skill sets:

  • Substantial expertise in C# and .Net Framework or .Net Core

  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management skills

Desirable skill sets:

  • Experience in SQL Server or Oracle
  • Web services (ASP.NET) / windows services
  • Understanding of GIT source control concepts
  • Ability to write and execute unit tests
  • Exposure to Asynchronous Messaging, ideally MQ or similar
  • PowerShell
  • Python
  • Experience of working in largescale organisation
