Job Description:

If you have experience in regulatory reporting with proven leadership experience, we can offer you the opportunity to contribute in Shell’s commitment to the energy transition.

Building an integrated power and gas business and offering cleaner energy solutions remains our number one priority. Join us and you’ll add your talent to a business with the power to shape the future.

Where do you fit?

Shell Trading integrates a worldwide trading network with an unsurpassed global portfolio in Crude Oil, Refined Oil Products, LPG, Gas, Power & Environmental Products with larger locations in London, Houston, Calgary, Singapore, Dubai, Rotterdam, and Bahamas.

Shell Trading & Supply (T&S) is one of the world’s largest energy traders and is a key segment of the Royal Dutch Shell portfolio.

The Regulated Activities Team is part of Commercial Operations, working closely with cross-commodity lines of business, Regulatory Compliance, Global Contracts, Legal, and IT to ensure that the Trading & Supply remain compliant with their OTC Commodities Regulatory Reporting requirements.

The Regulated Activities team is an energetic and fast-paced evolving environment, where people are encouraged to play an active role in achieving compliance against our regulatory obligations; as such the key to this role is the ability to be flexible, adaptable, open-minded, goal-orientated, and control framework conscious.

You will be expected to take ownership and accountability for our Business-as-usual team and be heavily involved in most aspects of project delivery.  It should be noted that, due to the nature of the business and the volumes in the trading environment, the successful candidate will be expected to absorb considerable amounts of information and multitask. Some travelling might be required.

What’s the role?

The Regulated Activities team lead performs a senior role within Shell Trading and Supply Commercial Operations, reporting to the Regulated Activities Team Manager.

The Regulated Activities team is responsible for the execution of UK EMIR, EU EMIR, REMIT, MAS and ASIC transaction reporting requirements, ensuring T&S satisfies their regulatory reporting obligations.

Their responsibility is to manage, maintain and improve the business-as-usual operations including day to day management of a team of analysts, providing oversight, escalation, and resolution for all transactions reporting activities.

The Regulated Activities team lead is responsible for:

  • Leading a team of 6-8 Regulated Activities analysts, reporting to the Regulated Activities Manager.
  • Provide leadership and day to day oversight of all business as usual (BAU) activities, ensuring tasks are completed in accordance with internal and external deadlines.
  • Act as the escalation point, for Regulatory reporting matters.
  • Promote and drive continuous improvement.
  • Build and develop strong relationship with stakeholders.
  • Establish goals/objectives and managing the performance of individuals within the team.
  • Shaping, developing, and executing the Regulated Activities Team vision/strategy to be implemented over the next few years.

What do we need from you?

We’re keen to hear from individuals who have a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Beyond that, we’d hope to see as many of the following as possible on your CV:

  • Outstanding commercial judgement and ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Proven track record managing a team within a Commodities trading environment.
  • Demonstrated resilience and learning agility in ambiguous and unfamiliar situations.
  • Knowledge of energy trading regulations is essential.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to communicate clear recommendations at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of Crude Oil, Refined Oil Products, LPG, Gas, Metals, Power & Environmental Products.

If you don't see yourself fully reflected in every job requirement listed above, we still encourage you to reach out and apply.

We are committed to creating a more equitable, inclusive, and diverse company and we strongly encourage applicants of all genders, ages, ethnicities, cultures, abilities, sexual orientation, and life experiences to apply. We look forward to receiving your application.
