Job Description:

- Reports to the Mechanical Lead within Operated Discipline Engineering Team
- Expected to be able to work with a high degree of autonomy at technical authority level.
- Is part of the team that provides all Mechanical Static engineering, Brownfield project and Discipline support to the UK Upstream operated assets.
- Works within a multi-disciplinary team and is able to adopt to the natural team’s approach.
- The purpose of the position is to provide technical expertise supporting of all Project and execution activities related to Mechanical Static Discipline incl knowledge of Valves, Vessels, Piping with expected specifically strong knowledge in piping design, piping stress and layout.
- On the Project support, you will be supporting the brownfield and modification projects, working directly with the project managers and assuring design and modification work completed by the selected EPC
- On operations support you will focus on driving asset availability, reliability, integrity, and reliability, in line with static equipment long term strategies, the Asset Reference Plan (ARP), Facility Maintenance Reference Plan (MRP) and the IAP (Integrated Asset Plan).
- Provide support to the team lead in managing all engineering contracts
What’s the role?
- Employ adaptive thinking to provide technical solutions to the Brownfield projects / Operated Facilities with complex systems to provide best technical and economically robust solutions.
- Working with the Mechanical Lead and Project Managers, acting in dual capacity as the Brownfield project and/or asset discipline engineer.
- Provide design, drawing and execution plan oversite to external EPC delivering brownfield project scopes – acting as the “owners engineer”.
- Responsible for scoping corrective maintenance and accountable for preparation & execution assurance of scopes of work
- Responsible of TAR and Outages scoping on static equipment and support assurance of Facility team execution of scope
- Responsible for reviewing and approving equipment repair / spares procurement quotes & ensuring quality and be cost efficient.
- Maintain bad actor list and assure of execution of any correctives in a 365-day window.
- Support of modification scopes which are greater than 365 days to complete
Key responsibilities include:
- Accountable for successful assurance and oversight of brownfield project execution by selected EPC.
- Apply knowledge, expertise to set clear and deliverable technical specifications (Via Requirements engineering principles) for EPC delivery.
- Review ongoing project/facility spend, intervene as required and support business drivers to reduce cost and increase uptime for disciplined owned equipment.
- Support annual budget submission for project/asset activities in line with the business plans.
- Accountable for successful execution of discipline activities per IAP Plan for the next 365 days
- Annually work with the asset to create the asset activity plan in alignment with the business planning cycle
- Approve Project/asset expenditure in SAP via cost uploads and service entries
What we need from you
HSSE:
- Working understanding of UK legislative framework incl. Goal Setting Regulations is preferred.
- Visibly demonstrate Safety Leadership and set clear expectations through the organization.
- Ensure Engineering and Maintenance support are provided to the organisation to meet the mandatory Group HSSE Control Framework and local laws and regulatory requirements
- Support the UK Upstream organisation in delivering HSSE (including Green House Gas Management) plans through prioritization of engineering and maintenance resources
Leadership:
- Has the drive and awareness to lead and drive issue to a clear and decisive decision point.
- Worked in a delivery required project environment.
- Enabling Facility, Gas Plant Managers and Engineering and Maintenance Manager to deliver their business and HSSE outcomes
- Support the successful integration and execution of brownfield projects and asset operations.
Stakeholder Management:
- Proven capability in EPC management, driving decisive project decisions while meeting required specification intent.
- Expected to be a Technical lead for assigned key vendors and contractors
- Engineering / Technical Lead in engagements with external parties (Regulator, Stakeholders)
- Manage performance of technical providers (P&T, 3rd Party Engineering contractors)
Technical Assurance:
- Application of Engineering design standards to modifications and asset managed changes when required.
- Knowledge of Shell DEP (Design Engineering Practices) Standards.
- Knowledge of Requirements Engineering approach.
- Prior experience in project environment at a personal delivery/accountable position.
- Knowledge of performance standards management and SCE’s (Safety Critical Elements) on Static Equipment.
- Responsible to complete audits on Performance Standards and SCE compliance
- Skill in equipment control, condition monitoring, shutdown and safeguarding specifications.
- Support and screen the development of deviations against SCE when required ready for TA1 review where appropriate.
- Review and comply with eMOC process for all modifications.
