Business Analyst – Energy Trading, Ops Specialist:
If you’re a business analyst with a proven ability to deliver business process and IT solutions in energy trading, this role will provide you with an opportunity to shape a greenfield Endur implementation. This innovative implementation will define and adopt best practice in every aspect of the project.

Shell Energy has significant growth ambitions over the coming years. In order to meet our company’s growth and decarbonization targets, we are embarking on a major foundational program of work to modernize our Energy Trading Risk Management System (ETRM) platform.
This multi-year program will initially involve the replacement of old, legacy ETRM systems in Europe and North America. Our intent is to implement new cloud hosted (Azure) Endur systems, utilizing the latest in stream data technologies and system integration and connectivity methodologies. At the same time, we need to support our growing Asian and Australian gas and power businesses and our world leading LNG trading businesses by sustaining and enhancing our current version 19 Endur system.

The Role
This roles an Endur Business Analyst you is aligned to a Gas with a focus on commercial operations. This includes, but is not limited to managing gas transportation, nominations, scheduling, and settlements.
Joining at the start of this ambitious program you would work with the BA lead and business and IT stakeholders to fulfill the BA role over the full project life cycle, from scoping/requirements gathering through working with developers and testers to running user acceptance testing. As an Endur BA you will also configure elements of the solution in the system.
Your role will vary depending on the specific area of expertise, however typically you would perform the following day to day activities:
- Planning, delivery, and assurance of your workstreams business analysis deliverables
- Driving and managing scope and design for a workstream, including assessing the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options
- Point of escalation for issues within your workstream
- Coaching and mentoring of the wider business analysis team
- Generating innovative approaches to existing problems or new opportunities
- Stakeholder management - building relationships with key stakeholders, keeping them informed and managing expectations
- Supporting other BA’s with less Endur experience
Following the program, this role is targeted to be the lead BA supporting the commercial operations team within Endur for ongoing enhancements and continuous system improvements.
What you will bring
Business Analysis / Project Delivery Experience
- Track record of end-to-end project lifecycle delivery
- Strong BA experience including capturing business problems, value drivers and functional/non-functional requirements
- Experience running workshops and user acceptance testing
- Demonstratable stakeholder management skills,
- Experience working in Agile project delivery
Energy Trading/Endur Experience
- Experience of energy trading markets, with a strong understanding of Gas Operations and transportation in North America (US and Canada)
- A working knowledge of different trading instruments, including:
- OTC transactions – Including forwards, swaps, and simple options
- Exchange traded futures & options lifecycle including cascading
- Gas market dynamics; pricing, transportation, pipelines etc.
- Detailed knowledge in the following functional areas:
- Position management and nominations
- Scheduling and actualization
- Imbalance management
- Gas Storage
- Pipeline tariff and rate schedules
- EDI communication
- Capacity release and pipeline postings
- Hands on configuration experience of Endur’s G-motion module.
