More specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage a team of 4 analysts, ensuring that they are generating both short- & long-term forecasts for both electricity and gas in-line with agreed standards.
  • Continually look for opportunities to improve the demand forecasting performance, either from improving the quality of input data, the computations and algorithms used within the demand forecasting models or the checks and balances performed to avoid errors or mistakes with the outputs.
  • Collaborate with Structuring on contractual volume risk optimisation to ensure we are competitive while remaining cost reflective.
  • Develop strong working relationships with the Technology and Data & Insight function, recommend and implement a new demand forecasting system, de-risking legacy in—house processes whilst ensuring requirements are fit for our future customer growth and product set.
  • Support the team, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities, workloads are managed and individuals are developing their skills

  • Demonstrable experience of improving demand forecasting performance
  • Familiar with best practice methodologies for both short and long term forecasts
  • Experience in building demand forecasting models from scratch and comfortable working with existing code to resolve issues
  • Practical and hands on self-starter, able to take the initiative to get the job done
  • Strong communicator, able to distil complex issues, make clear recommendations to aid decision making
  • Strong academic record preferred
