Through DoD SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes, Sierra Nevada Corporation provides internships to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. Responsibilities:
Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aerospace ground and service equipment.
Inspects, tests, and operates AGE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
Diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications.
Removes, disassembles, repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and re-installs AGE accessories and component.
Advises and performs troubleshooting on AGE before assigning repair action. Inspects and approves completed maintenance actions.
Solves repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications.
Analyzes and repairs ground support equipment using conventional and digital multimeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools.
Maintains external fuel and grounding systems.
Stores, handles, uses, and disposes of hazardous material and waste according to environmental standards.
Reads, interprets and complies with maintenance manuals, service bulletins, safety guidelines and other specifications.
Performs complex maintenance, replaces and rebuilds components using hand tools, power tools, machines, and other equipment.
Must-haves:
Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and typically 2 or more years of relevant experience
A higher-level degree may substitute for experience
Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
Exposure to technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications
Ability to understand and interpret technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications
Experience performing hardware and soldering techniques, technical data and everyday tools
Understanding of the principles of electronics, refrigeration, hydraulics, power generation, reciprocating engines (gasoline and diesel), gas turbine engines, pneumatics and heating
Moderate skills in servicing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing and performing preventive maintenance on motor and engine-driven generator sets, air conditioners, hydraulic test stands, air compressors, bomb lifts, heaters and other similar support equipment
Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations
Ability to speak, read and write in English
The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

Formal Technical training
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
