Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 people to join the team as a Enhanced Annuity Underwriter in either Cardiff or Hove on a 18 month Fixed term contract basis.

The role is responsible for providing an excellent Underwriting service that is trusted, valued and provides fair treatment and outcomes for customers. You will be underwriting new business Annuity's and life time care plans, where risk based decision making and delivering successful outcomes is key.

What you'll be doing

  • Identify and gather all information required in order to assess applications within business guidelines for a range of enhanced annuity products.
  • Provide underwriting services that balance a customer’s wants and needs for retirement income and the risks of financial loss associated with excessive annuity payments.
  • Communicate proactively and reactively with customers or their authorised representatives through appropriate communication channels eg telephone and email.
  • Working in a fast paced environment and working to tight deadlines is essential as is relationship and stakeholder management skills within LGRRI.
  • Taking every opportunity to deliver an outstanding customer experience.
  • Take ownership of own self-development so that technical skills, knowledge and ability to perform the underwriting role are developed.

Qualifications

  • Underwriting experience in direct office and/or reinsurer environment is desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Planning and organisational skills.
  • A high degree of energy, drive and enthusiasm.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Experience of contributing to cross-functional business teams.
