Job Description

Legal and General Group’s Risk function are looking to hire a Lead Business Analyst specialising in risk data on an initial 6-month contract. The role will sit within Group Risk Data and Reporting team and work closely with the Risk and Privacy teams with the goal of understanding the wider business needs in regard to MI, reporting and data requests.


You will work closely with internal stakeholders to understand common data sources teams require access to and what information they are using to build their reports, what data they require for their data and analytics functions and what data strategy could look like in the context of both non-financial and financial risk for the purpose of improving the data service.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Understanding the data systems and structures within the business and contributing towards improvements to these systems where possible, linking the understanding of source data to value-adding analytics and reporting.
  • Working in partnership with internal risk teams to collate, validate and interpret financial and non-financial risk data from various sources, such as internal models, enterprise risk management platform(s), market data, regulatory reports, tertiary internal systems, and external vendors.
  • Owning the documentation and understanding the business demand across requirement gathering workstreams alongside our multi-disciplinary risk teams in Financial and Non-Financial Risk, to document their data and reporting processes.
  • Assisting the Head of Data Risk and Group Risk Reporting in building the risk data strategy across a 5 year term with a roadmap that includes iterating from bronze to silver and gold milestones.
  • Developing and maintaining productive relationships with all stakeholders; analysing the requirements to find commonality, themes and providing advice and guidance back to teams to improve their knowledge and understanding.
  • Adhering to governance and best practice guidelines to ensure data, procedures, and user guides are documented and remain up to date.
  • Ensuring digital customer journeys are constructed with end-customers in mind to help them be easily accessible, navigated and highlights key information to support their understanding and decision making.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in dealing with high volumes of data with excellent attention to detail and reconciliation.
  • Demonstrated expert in working with financials and model data or data within a risk function.
  • Understanding of data governance practices including critical/key data element identification, lineage mapping.
  • Performing requirements gathering to create artefacts that clearly articulate current state data and reporting processes.
  • Working in an Agile fashion to quickly work through multiple disparate Epics and bring them together in retrospectives.
  • Gathering requirements from stakeholders across internal teams, managing expectations and guiding on approach.
  • Working with a variety of datasets across different domains.
  • Experience across the 3LOD would be ideal but not essential.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with SQL or Python beneficial but not essential.
  • Previous experience in finance is essential.
