About the Team

Join a hardworking, multifaceted and passionate team delivering a new generation of on-demand enterprise solutions for the Payroll product. You work closely with your product manager and team on features. You collaborate with your team following agile and test driven development practices. A key strength you possess is the awareness of how significant your work is to our customers and to the lives of all the individuals who are paid through Workday!

About the Role

Are you a software engineer who is looking for a growing, innovative tech company that serves global customers? Look no further!

As a Software Application Engineer at Workday, you will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle in a metadata-driven development scrum team. During the analysis phase, you will collaborate with Product Managers and QA to review and refine requirements for the product. During the design, you will take functional input and build a technical design that best implements these requirements. This will include crafting a model of business objects and their relationships, which represents the functional domain as specified in the functional analysis. You will work primarily with Workday’s proprietary development stack, while having some exposure to other full-stack development teams. During the implementation, you will build all technical artifacts required to realize the system functionality. Partnering with QA and Automation peers, you will be responsible for the quality of the delivered product during the testing phase. This includes the creation of test cases for all business processes, the execution of test scripts, and the resolution of any problems identified by the test scripts. Fix customer reported issues. Mentor and learn from other team members through pair programming, code reviews, knowledge sharing, hackathons, etc

About You

Basic Qualifications - Sr Associate Software Application Engineer

  • 3+ years of experience developing web applications and/or Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products as part of a multi-functional team

  • 3+ years of experience working with object-oriented design principles, including experience in an object-oriented language such as Java, C#, etc. and in UML modeling

  • 4-year degree in computer science or equivalent experience

Basic Qualifications - Software Application Engineer

  • 5+ years of experience developing web applications and/or Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products as part of a multi-functional team

  • 5+ years of experience working with object-oriented design principles, including experience in an object-oriented language such as Java, C#, etc. and in UML modeling

  • 4-year degree in computer science or equivalent experience

Other Qualifications

  • Experience in design and analysis of software for performance and scalability

  • Experience writing reliable, performant, and maintainable unit and system tests

  • Experience developing complex enterprise applications

  • Experience with integrations technologies, such as SOAP and REST APIs

  • Knowledge of payroll and human resources (HR) systems a plus

  • Experience giving feedback to peers in code reviews

  • Experience with XML and Integration technologies.

  • Hands-on experience in building sophisticated rules based logic with many variables in distributed, and highly concurrent systems.

  • Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
