As a Full Stack Engineer within our Digital Payments team, you’ll build and release reliable software systems at scale. By partnering with enterprise-wide) teams, you’ll develop and maintain full stack solutions that fit our business needs. You’ll use your holistic view of all products (and their interactions) to design elegant solutions and strategize the future state of our larger technical ecosystem. By independently innovating and advocating for best practices, you’ll solve complex problems and guide the team on implementing solutions from inception to production. 

• Analyze, design, program, test, and deploy new user stories and features with high quality (security, reliability, operations) to production 
• Tends to Associate Application Engineers by providing learning tasks as well as work related tasks, directs the work of Senior Associate Application Engineers, and helps them continue to grow 
• Achieves team commitments (and influence others to do the same) by using informal leadership & highly developed communication skills 
• Has an oversight on design decisions and guides team to achieve key results for products assigned to them 
• Remediates issues using engineering principles and creates proactive design solutions for potential failures 
• Contributes to and leads technology communities at Discover 

Minimum Qualifications 

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you: 

• Bachelors – Computer Science or related 
• Internal applicants only: technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale 

Preferred Qualitfication:

• Experience working in a highly complex and scaled global technology organization
• Continuous Integration/Deployment/Testing with Jenkins, Cucumber, Junit, Gatling
• REST APIs, JSON, Contract Testing
• You are competent & confident in multiple programming language types – scripting, OO, functional.
• You have hands on experience of implementing CI/CD pipelines and advocacy of you build you run it culture.
• Java development experience JavaSE 8
• Spring framework (core, integration, boot, webflux, etc...)
• Microservices 
• Cloud-based technology experience – AWS, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, OpenShift
• Extreme automation mindset as it pertains to testing and build/deploy concepts
• CI/CD Pipeline experience via Jenkins, Github Actions, Chef, Ansible, Nexus
• Ability to work closely with a business initiative owners and product owners
• Expertise in domain driven design, test automation and capable of forming a deep understanding of our underlying frameworks and languages
• Understanding of REST Web Services, JSON and Design Patterns using various technologies
• Experience as part of an Agile engineering or development team
• Strong experience working with a relational database and NoSQL database
• Proven skills in high availability and scalability design, as well as performance monitoring
• Strong experience of developing multi-threaded and synchronization application

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Time spent working for an organization in either the Financial Services or Payments Technology
• Openshift and Kubernetes
• AWS Cloud
• UNIX/Linux (command line and shell scripting)
• PostgreSql database
• Understanding of messaging systems like MQ, Kafka, or Kinesis.
• Knowledge on Spring boot API Dev, Spring JDBC, security (AES, JWE, JWS)
