About the Role:
The person in this role is responsible for the robust accounting and reporting of financial information across GB, Ireland, International and Head Office.
The role:
Supports in the delivery of robust financial and management information with regards to Indirect Tax
Assists in ensuring the group meets its indirect tax compliance reporting obligations
Responsible for ensuring improving detailed transactional compliance behaviours within Shared Services and the wider Finance Team
Responsible for producing quality balance sheet reconciliations with adequate supporting documentation
Identifies opportunities for process improvement to improve efficiency and control
Assisting the Indirect Tax team with tax audits and other ad hoc indirect tax projects
Key Responsibilities:
Periodic
Detailed analysis and review of underlying tax data
Monitoring and feedback on indirect tax compliance within the Shared Service Centre and Wider Finance Community
Completion and submission of the various VAT returns.
Completion and submission of EC sales lists
Completion and submission of Intrastat returns
Completion and submission of the Sugar Tax Returns
Completion and submission of any other indirect tax requirements
Monitoring of Indirect tax thresholds
Complete full balance sheet reconciliations ensuring balances are fully supported with adequate documentation
Complete customs data audit checks and follow up with any discrepancies as appropriate.
Business partnering
Work closely with GB and Ireland and International Finance to ensure reporting is timely and accurate
Work with the Tax Departments to ensure compliance on submissions
Feedback on KPIs around irrecoverable / blocked Indirect tax
Audit and control
Identify opportunities for process improvement to improve efficiency and control
Supporting of any external Indirect Tax audits and reviews
Support senior management and/or prepare and provide supporting material for external audit
Perform user acceptance testing during system upgrades
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
Background in FMCG preferable – retailer or manufacturer
Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles
Strong analytical and interpretative skills
Ability to identify issues, be proactive and subsequently problem solve through to resolution
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver quality output in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written. Able to clearly articulate finance concepts to non-finance colleagues
Advanced Excel skills
Systems: BPC, SAP R3, BBW, MS Office - preferable
Qualifications:
Studying towards one of the following qualifications: -
ATT, AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA
