Functional area: Operations & Maintenance
Role will be working out of 3 of our Onshore wind sites in the highlands of Scotland.
YOUR ROLE
The Wind Farm Manager (WFM) is based within 35 miles of a primary site within a cluster of windfarms. WFM is responsible for ensuring their wind farms are operated and managed with a high focus on safety, production maximisation and commercial awareness. The role may have line management accountabilities depending on the contractual status of the wind farm. The WFM may manage a team of technicians or interface with contractors whilst being accountable for all aspects of operations and maintenance of the onshore wind farms under their responsibility.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Health, Safety & Environmental Leadership
Support incident investigations and reporting requirements
Ensuring all assets are compliant with relevant legislative and internal safety process requirements
Review of Safety Alerts and Notices and implementation of lessons learnt.
Setting to work and Tool box talk provisions
Management of inductions in accordance with induction procedure.
Ensure a Safe System of Work is in place and adhered to in respect of all work taking place across the portfolio.
Manage contractor safety, including review of all submitted documentation (e.g. Risk Assessments and Method Statements.)
Produce, update and maintain working procedures, ensuring compliance is maintained with relevant formal business procedures.
Accommodate and conduct regular safety audits and initiatives across the portfolio, ensuring all actions arising are resolved in a timely manner.
Enact the role of Emergency Coordinator sites under their responsibility
Resource Management
Optimising and ensuring the correct level of resource is available to meet the demands of the wind farms under their responsibility, delivering on agreed work programs and within budget. Including, but not limited to:
Technicians
Tools
Trucks
Spares
Contractors
Technical & Performance Responsibilities
Site performance reporting
Preparing, reviewing and implementing O&M plans for wind farms under their accountability to agreed targets
Active contract management ensuring that contractors deliver all of the contracted services to agreed specification.
High Voltage (HV) SAP authorised for the sites under their responsibility
Utilising the works management system to control access, record works completed and identify any nonconformance (SAP Plant Maintenance/Hexis applications)
Utilise NWOW tools to identify issues, make them visible and problem solve activities across their region, focussing on safety, quality delivery and cost (SQDC)
Performance analysis using current and future technology
Identify, evaluate and implement continuous improvement projects
Commercial & Financial Responsibilities
Support tendering activities required in relation to the wind farms under their responsibility
Support the Medium Term Plan (MTP) in conjunction with the Asset Manager
Provide detailed feedback on the performance of contractors to ensure quality service
Operating the wind farm to budget as per agreed MTP and follow appropriate processes for obtaining prior approval for unplanned spend, where required
Stakeholder Management
Liaising with external stakeholders on operational challenges (Land owners, Community Groups, Local Government) to maintain positive working relationships
Maintain positive communications with the functional teams (e.g. Engineering, HSE, technical, Control Room, Procurement, Asset Management etc)
Ensure an effective handover from construction to Operations phase by fully understanding assets from an early stage and ensuring that all systems are implemented and documentation is in place
Personal
Produce and maintain a Personal Development Plan to ensure that the skills and knowledge required to meet the role responsibilities are developed and maintained.
Ensure all mandatory training, as defined in the training matrix, is kept up to date for self and by all team members.
KEY SKILL REQUIREMENTS
A technical qualification in Engineering discipline – Mechanical, Electrical, HV C&I or demonstratable equivalent.
Experience working in the Energy Industry preferably renewables with a demonstratable history of Maintenance Management and Operations.
Experience of operating within safety, environmental and operational policies, frameworks and statutory legislation;
A suitable Health & Safety Qualification (IOSH Working Safely, NEBOSH General Certificate)
Training in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems/Financial Management System (SAP PM/MM) as appropriate
Strong leadership, people management and coaching skills, leading local and international teams.
Experienced in Contract Management and managing HSE.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, influencing & negotiating skills with a successful demonstratable history.
Strong organisational, time management and planning skills.
Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and have a strong work ethic.
Excellent Problem-Solving skills, resilience and tenacity
Conscientious and detail conscious with a widely recognised eye for detail.
Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Ability to challenge the work of others in an effective but sensitive manner.
