Our Stock Control team play a critical role in ensuring our operational and engineering teams have the correct equipment and resources in place to maintain our capabilities to run the port successfully. We're currently looking to recruit an experienced Stock Controller ideally from an Engineering background to join our small team. Working a shift from 0930 - 1800 Monday through Thursday and 0930 - 1700 on Fridays, you'll be responsible for managing stock levels, carrying out stock takes, ensuring all equipment, PPE and parts are logged correctly and ordered with enough time to allow the team to carry out their work. 

 

Key Responsibilities
•    To initiate and instigate the purchasing and replenishment of the Engineering stores at the Port of Southampton, and control this process ensuring stock levels are maintained and within budget,
•    To carry out monthly & annual stock takes to ensure stock levels are maintained and acted upon, ensuring shelf life, batch life and stock quality checks are completed
•    Full interaction with the procurement and stock systems and liaising with group procurement, to ensure knowledge of procurement policies & procedures remain up-to-date. This will involve assisting with the review of existing procurement procedures ensuring they are still fit for purpose and continue to meet the needs of the business,
•    Processing orders on procurement system, and sending off to suppliers as and when appropriate, ensuring orders are processed in a timely manner and recorded correctly on the stock control system
•    To be responsible for the supply, issuing and renewal of all PPE across all departments within the Port of Southampton. This will involve liaising with departmental managers, ensuring the effective supply of PPE, whilst also ensuring it remains within budget and compliance with Health & Safety and procurement policies & procedures are adhered to,
•    Ownership of the fuel store and storage tanks and the ongoing management and issuing of the fuel tags for the members of the Maintenance, Operations & Stevedores teams,
 

Skills & Experience
•    Must be IT literate, working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to pick up new systems easily. Some experience with CMMS or SAP is desirable
•    Good communication skills, able to communicate with staff at all levels and suppliers.
•    Well organised, analytical, and focused on exception customer service.
•    Full driving licence
•    Hold a current Forklift Licence (Desired)
•    Experience in a similar Engineering Stores environment
