Purpose
The purpose of the Assistant Operations Manager, is to lead the operations team in servicing the Stena RORO vessel which arrives daily and the administration and operation of the trailer yard on a 24/7 basis
Accountabilities
Responsible for the management and development of a high performing, safety and productivity driven team made up of gatehouse, stock controllers and plant operatives
This role is accountable for between approximately 18 reports within operations made up of ABP and agency staff who support workload demands.
Responsible for ensuring that operations are planned, managed and executed in a safe, efficient and productive manner
The AOM has full accountability for the Health & Safety of the operatives on the termina
Contributes to the Health & Safety and Environmental management of all operations
Ensure the operation operates in line with all relevant SSOW and RA which as drafted & reviewed by the AOMs.
Accountable for highlighting opportunities for safety and productivity improvements in the terminal’s operation
Collaborates with the Head of RORO, on an ongoing basis to enhance and improve the terminal’s expectations and general housekeeping standards
Meets and where possible exceed internal targets and contractual service level agreements (SLA) for all customers, reporting on your shift’s progress against these SLA’s (KPI’s)
Responsible for implementing the daily operations plan, ensuring that operatives are provided with the correct information, instruction and training to complete the KPI’s / SLA’s
Ensure procedures, SSOW, risk assessments and permits are always adhered to.
Monitors, records and follows up on any incidents and accidents in line with ABP policies.
Collaborates with the Central Planning Function to ensure a process is in place for the allocation of resource – avoiding third party usage and encouraging mobility across the terminal and ports
In the event of an emergency and as part of the Terminal’s emergency response plan, you will be responsible for acting as a site main controller.

Skills, experiences, qualifications and competencies
A safety focused individual with a proven track record of managing the safety of a large team in a high paced, intense environment
Proven Operations Management experience with regards to commodity intake and loading operations
Strong business and commercial acumen
Articulate and able to use a variety of communication channels.
Demonstratable evidence of motivating others, whilst demonstrating energy and enthusiasm
Excellent report writing skills
Able to deal with business ambiguity
Strong IT skills evidenced in an operational environment
Able to manage resources to deal with an ever-changing schedule
Work under pressure and to tight deadlines
