About the apprenticeship:

If you’re looking at pursuing a career as a Brewer or Cider Production Manager, an apprenticeship is a brilliant place to begin the journey. You’re able to gain hands-on experience whilst getting paid to do so! Your training costs are covered, and you will gain nationally recognised qualification of the specialism.

You’ll work towards a Level 3 technical operator over 26 months. Your time will be split between study blocks at college and on-site working alongside our cider production colleagues, learning, and performing the role of a Technical Operator.

The focus of the apprenticeship is to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours about process safety, quality, and operation as well as continuous improvement approaches in HEINEKEN’s brewing environment.

Because of the technical elements involved in the learning, we ask that all applicants must have 5 GCSE’s or equivalent – including at least a level 5 in Maths and a level 4 in English.

As part of the journey to achieve your apprenticeship, you’ll take the internationally recognised General Certificate in Cider Production exam.

We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about the industry and HEINEKEN can demonstrate good behaviours and are eager to learn.

What do our current apprentices think?  We’ve asked a few of them!

Why did you choose the brewing apprenticeship?
“I’d been looking for an apprenticeship and this is the first time I saw this type of opportunity, I’m really interested in brewing and but didn’t know where to start to become a brewer and plus it's Heineken so I knew I’d learn the best way.  I’m only in the first month of my programme and I know I’ve made the right decision, everyone has made me feel really welcome”

What’s it been like being on the programme?
“Each day brings its new set of challenges, which keep this job very exciting; in terms of all previous employment I have had, I never looked forward to going to work; but this job is different, the people and the atmosphere make coming to work incredibly rewarding.”

Why choose us?
“It is a great industry to get into!  Being a Technical Operator also offers you a lot of skills, which will help if you want to move into different areas of business, such as production, packaging and logistics.”

The Application:
We’ve made our application process simple.

All you need to do is apply with a CV and a covering letter telling us why you want to join our HEINEKEN Cider Production Apprenticeship programme at Hereford Ciderie.
