Department Overview
The Sustainable Investing Strategy and Oversight Specialist role will serve as the key partner to investment, product development, sales, compliance and marketing teams to navigate and align sustainability-related regulatory requirements and firm-level sustainability commitments into investment practice. The key objective of the role will be to work across the wider business to 1) lead the incorporation of sustainability related regulations within new and existing investment processes, 2) strategically embed firm-level sustainability commitments into investment practices, 3) and contribute to the healthy growth of sustainable investing businesses. 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Partner with the investment, product development, sales, compliance and marketing teams and to manage the regulatory agenda around sustainability and taxonomy.
•    Responsible for leading regulatory projects across different jurisdictions, accounting for differentiated investment capabilities and working with colleagues from global Nomura entities to develop a coherent global platform view. 
•    Demonstrate expertise in sustainability regulatory practices, with an ability to synthesize and identify common concepts and best practices across markets.
•    Collaborate cross-functionally to define regulatory concepts and translate to broader investment process innovation.
•    Navigate diverging objectives between regulatory and investment objectives and developing solutions.
•    Work with the investment teams to identify the most appropriate ESG metrics, tools and service providers for implementation across portfolios.  Responsible for engaging suitable service providers as required to manage EET production and any other ESG-related reporting where necessary.
•    Functional management of the NAM UK/Europe Responsible Investment Oversight Committee, and contribute to continuously enhance its oversight on existing and new products in accordance with the fast evolving regulatory and market environment.
•    Stay ahead of trends and evolving guidance to develop strategic approaches to lead tactical implementations.
•    Lead internal groups to provide subject matter expertise and lead all aspects of building and maintaining methodology frameworks.
•    Provide and arrange appropriate trainings (including from external experts) on sustainability related topics (e.g. regulations, greenwashing and climate risks) to internal stakeholders to embed sustainability awareness across the firm. 

Skills & Experience:

•    Genuine interest in contributing to sustainable economy.
•    Significant experience within the asset management industry ideally from a compliance, product development, sustainability or regulatory background; with deep knowledge of sustainable finance in the asset management context.  
•    Excellent knowledge of the policy making process in the UK and EU.
•    Experience required in supporting implementation of sustainability regulations within financial services.
•    Extensive knowledge of sustainability-related regulations such as SFDR, EU Taxonomy, TCFD, UK SDR and French AMF Doctrine.
•    Analytical skill to collect, compile and analyse sustainability-related data for oversight and monitoring purposes. 
•    Strong knowledge of UCITS and AIF legislation is a plus.
•    Excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to distil and present complex information plainly and succinctly to a range of audiences.
•    Strong initiative, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking to drive change.
