Continuous improvement sits at the heart of what we do as a business at GXO, and to drive this forward we are looking for a Continuous Improvement Manager to join us on our new WHSmith contract. Here you will be pivotal to implementing and encouraging a CI culture of operational excellence across 3 retail distribution centres, based in Birmingham, Swindon and Dunstable.

 

This role is being offered on a full-time, permanent basis, and the hours of work are Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00. However, we do require a level of flexibility - this is logistics after all!

You’ll be paid a salary of up to £60,000 per annum, you’ll also receive 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days so you can enjoy a positive work-life balance. What you’ll do on a typical day:

 

  • Develop the CI set-up, understand the operation, transition and implement processes and systems to deliver objectives, playing an active part in the site ethos and strategy
  • Develop and implement a CI deployment strategy to support a culture of CI in the business
  • Identify cost savings and efficiencies by utilising resources and exploiting operational synergies
  • Working with the Finance Manager; record and track assumptions, trial period results and actual savings/cost avoidance to capture true benefit and gain share
  • Enhance staff performance through the implementation and management of engagement initiatives, providing appropriate learning opportunities, fostering a culture of long-term engagement with staff

 

What you need to succeed at GXO:

 

  • You’ll have experience of working within continuous improvement within a warehouse environment, experience within a transport environment would be beneficial
  • You’ll possess expert knowledge of business improvement methodologies and be Six Sigma Green Belt certified as a minimum
  • You’ll have proven experience of leading successful CI or business transformation programmes
  • You’ll be people focused and able to demonstrate empathy, engagement and development
