Manager Warranty and Repairs at JetBlue

Position Summary:

The Manager Warranty and Repairs reports to the Senior Manager Materials and is responsible for overseeing the Technical Operations warranty processes to achieve the maximum warranty recovery or cost avoidance.  The Manager oversees all claims for compensation related to workmanship or damages and their timely submission to Business Partners, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Insurance Providers, and the management of warranty entitlements during the aircraft warranty period, as well as discount programs and purchase credit arrangements with Service Providers and Part Suppliers.  The Manager also provides leadership to the component repairs team, providing support and guidance for best practices, best contractual opportunities.  This position interacts with Business Partners and Crewmembers to achieve high quality services, on-time delivery and low Cost per Available Seat Miles (CASM) maintenance costs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead team of Supervisors, technical repair cost and operation analysts, expeditors and coordinators.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to identify trends in warranty and introduce solutions.
  • Maintain a process to identify, assess, execute and track cost savings initiatives that reduce JetBlue CASM, including processes that speed up shop repairs and minimize "over and above" and “out of scope” costs.
  • Management Repair agreements to ensure Business Partners perform at contract defined levels of service.  Ensure all JetBlue contractual entitlements are obtained, including discounts, exchanges, loaners and Beyond Economical Repair (BER) replacements, as applicable.
  • Analyze data and provide reports for Average Day Open (ADO), On-time Delivery (OTD), No Fault Found (NFF) and other process key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Partner with Technical Purchasing and Material Planning to implement a strategy to repair, scrap, or retire components that will minimize CASM.  Perform work in warehouse environment to assess and disposition parts removed from aircraft.
  • Reviews and analyzes current contracts and repair services trends to look for avenues of cost savings to maintain or improve current costs per available seat mile.
  • Negotiates contracts with new business partners as well as maintains and/or restructures existing contracts.
  • Creates budget recommendations and ensures the meeting of budget expectations.
  • Collaborates with Material Procurement teams, Materiel Operations and other Tech Ops departments to improve processes, tools and controls.
  • Collaborates with all Engineering functions to improve component reliability and reduce NFF findings.
  • Identify and lead Continuous Improvement initiatives related to Material processes.
  • Take a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement.   
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Diploma
  • Three (3) years of experience in Aviation, Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite and more advanced analytical and statistical tools
  • Excellent verbal and written interaction to effectively manage communications and stakeholder expectations at all levels of the organization including executive leadership
  • Prior management or supervisory experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, teams and initiatives simultaneously
  • Demonstrated track record of process improvements and successful project management
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (25%)
  • Currently in possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United States
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Science or Aviation Management
  • Five (5) years of commercial aviation experience in a technical discipline with familiarity using either TRAX or similar Maintenance & Engineering (M&E) Systems
  • One (1) year of Continuous Improvement projects
  • Experience with regulatory requirements for inventory and material management such as Sarbanes-Oxley 404 regulations
  • Experience leading multiple teams across different functional areas

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft

  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
  • May need to work additional hours, including weekends, as needed to support operation.

Compensation:

  • The base pay range for this position is between $81,000.00 and $136,200.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue’s total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
