This position will be located in East Lansing, MI and is eligible for a hybrid schedule with a required 3 days in the East Lansing, MI office.

Day in the life of a Site Reliability Engineer
- Each day is a dynamic blend of technical expertise and problem-solving. The day typically begins with a review of system health dashboards and alerts within our on-prem and cloud infrastructure. Leveraging scripting skills, primarily using PowerShell and Python, to automate routine tasks and ensure efficient management of our infrastructure.
- Collaboration plays a key role throughout the day. Working closely with developers and DevOps teams to design and implement infrastructure changes using configuration management tools like Bicep and Ansible. This collaborative effort ensures that our systems are both scalable, observable and reliable.
- A significant portion of the day is dedicated to observability. Utilizing monitoring and logging tools such as SCOM, Squared Up, self-authored code, Azure Monitor to gain insights into our system's performance and health. These insights enable proactive troubleshooting and the detection of potential issues before they impact our users.
- When incidents occur, this position will apply incident management methodologies based on ITIL, SRE, or DevOps principles to swiftly address and resolve issues. This involves deep problem-solving skills and effective communication with stakeholders to minimize downtime and impact.
- Continuous improvement is another aspect of this role. Actively contributing to documentation, updating guides, and sharing knowledge with the team to ensure everyone is equipped to handle similar scenarios efficiently.
- Lastly, involvement in CI/CD pipeline automation using Git for source control ensures that integrations are scalable, are seamless to deploy and reliable.
What Experience can you Bring?
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field is required.
- At least 2 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a similar role.
- Knowledge with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python as well as a familiarity with infrastructure automation.
- Experience with configuration management and orchestration tools. Monitoring and logging tools and services used to create observability.
- Experience with incident management and problem-solving methodologies, such as ITIL, SRE, or DevOps.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with git for source control and CI/CD for pipeline automation.
