The Purpose of the role:

This role provides the opportunity to assist in delivering an action-packed sponsorships calendar as well as making a real difference for our charity partners by executing innovative fundraising campaigns as well as activating the Group's PR function through both traditional and digital channels.

 

Working as Corporate Marketing Assistant (Placement) you will:

  • Events: Provide support for the execution of diverse and engaging events, gaining hands-on experience on-site. Examples encompass SPAR/EUROSPAR store openings, conferences, award ceremonies, charity fundraising initiatives, and customer hospitality events.

  • Sponsorships: Contribute to the coordination of key sponsorship events, involving branding and product support, ticket distribution, and on-the-day event assistance. Examples include the Balmoral Show, SPAR Craic 10k, Omagh ½ marathon, School Sports Days, and the W5/Belfast Giants and Ulster Rugby partnerships.

  • Community Sponsorships: Assist in evaluating community sponsorship requests through the Thrive CSR Portal and Customer Services Team, ensuring alignment with Company policy. Arrange support where feasible to contribute to the well-being of the neighbourhoods in which we operate.

  • Charity Partnership: Play a role in making a positive impact on our charity partners (Marie Curie, Cancer Fund for Children, Age NI, Tearfund and Action Mental Health) by supporting the activation of annual fundraising activity calendars for each partner.

  • PR: Collaborate with our PR agency to craft press releases for various initiatives, including SPAR/EUROSPAR/VIVO/VIVOXTRA brand plans, store openings and anniversaries, charity partnerships, and broader Henderson Group communications. Assist in organising photocall requests and developing monthly reports.

  • Digital: Monitor corporate social platforms (LinkedIn) and the corporate website. 

 

Skills for Success

 

Joining us as Corporate Marketing Assistant (Placement) the minimum criteria you’ll need is:

  • Working towards 3rd Level qualification in a marketing, events or communications related subject.

  • Full UK driving license

 

The Attributes you’ll need include:

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • Ability to use initiative.

  • Excellent attention to detail

 

 It is Desirable if you have:

  • Experience of working across all Microsoft packages, with particular emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience of design software such as Canva or InDesign

  • Previous experience working in Retail/Hospitality or Events

This is a full-time position working 36.5 hours per week. Working hours will be 8:45am-4:45pm Monday to Thursday and 8:45am-3:45pm Friday. Hybrid and flexible working arrangement available.
