Service Engineer, SWP – West UK & Wales  

 

We are looking for a Service Engineer to contribute towards our Surgical Workplaces Service team.

 

You will have the opportunity to make a difference by effectively carrying out routine service, testing and repair on a range of Getinge's medical equipment in hospitals and facilities across West UK & Wales.

 

You will maintain good customer relations by demonstrating a professional approach to work and you will collaborate with colleagues, to share, build together and meet our goals.

 

Day to day responsibilities:

  • To cultivate a positive rapport with the customer, demonstrating first class interpersonal skills in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
  • To carry out routine servicing of equipment.
  • To carry out routine validation of Getinge equipment to the relevant standards as stated in terms and conditions of the client’s contract.
  • To carry out electrical/mechanical fault finding of equipment.
  • To carry out calibration of equipment, where necessary.
  • To maintain adequate stock levels of spare parts.
  • To produce quality documentation for submission to the customer.
  • To maintain regular communication with the internal Service Department.
  • To ensure the company equipment is being used and looked after correctly and that it is kept in a safe condition. To report all faulty equipment or equipment out of calibration to Service Supervisor.
  • To ensure that correct returns and non-conformance report procedures are followed.
  • To organise and prioritise a continuously changing workload, ensuring that all customers’ calls and enquiries are replied to.
  • To ensure safe and tidy working including use of protective footwear, work wear and hard hats were required for local site working.
  • To problem solve, combining initiative with a practical and logical approach to all aspects of the position.
  • To provide sales leads to Service/Sales Manager
  • To assist with the movement of equipment between customer sites and our support locations.
  • To produce written reports, as and when required/requested.
  • To submit accurately completed expense claim forms, with supportive documentation, on time.
  • To maintain telephone contact with the office on a regular basis and with line supervisor.
  • To assist the team members as and when required/requested.
  • To undertake any other duties as and when required.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds Level 3 or an equivalent qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • HTM01-06 certification (desirable)

 

Knowledge/experience:

  • Previous knowledge and experience of service and validation of automated endoscopy reprocessors to the appropriate standards.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance environment, ideally within a medical, pharmaceutical or other process industry.
  • Good general IT knowledge.
  • Personal qualities:
  • Self-motivated.
  • Flexible and able to adapt under pressure in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Genuine interest in people and be able to deal with customers in a friendly manner.

 

Special Features/Conditions:

  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • UK Requirements: Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Driving Licence: Required to hold a valid UK drivers’ licence.
  • Travel: Ability to travel within the UK with occasional overnight stays as and when required.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance: Required at the cost of Getinge UKI.
  • Must live in the region that the job is based in.
  • Due to the nature of this role, it is required that you live within reasonable travelling distance from the core area of work.
  • Due to the nature of this role, there may be a requirement to undertake work outside of normal hours i.e. evenings, weekends and bank holidays and participate in the “On Call” rota.

To help meet our goals of becoming CO2 neutral by 2025, we travel only if we must. In this role, you will be required to travel up to 80% to visit customer sites and company offices as necessary.
