DEPARTMENT MANAGER (Running/Fitness/Watersports/Nature)

As a Department Manager you'll be growing a dynamic business to empower and develop team along with the Department manager for the first 6 months before taking the charge of your own department all to ensure that your local customers can get everything they need in your department to practice their favourite sports. Most importantly, you have to ensure they have an amazing shopping experience in the process.

Your journey before you lead the team sports department at Decathlon Wednesbury would go as follows:

Upon crossing the starting line, in the first 2-3 months you will begin with the responsibilities of a Sports Advisor to learn about Decathlon in a deeper lens and understand the fundamentals of the Company such as our values, culture, and overall strategy. This is also the point where you master the shop-floor’s processes, rules, and standards such as customer service, deliveries, layout, and more. At Decathlon, we believe that the greatest leaders are doers and so the mastery of the fundamentals will be integral in your success within the project!

Now that you’ve mastered the shopping playground in your first 3 months, it’s time for you to embark on managerial duties! This stage will let you discover and learn about a sport department’s functions to prepare you for becoming a department manager. You will touch the basics of management such as the management fundamentals of Decathlon, commercial dynamism, understanding economical performance, product and stock management, customer satisfaction, and learning to lead and teach. You will also begin to work on your mid to long term aspirations and mission in the Company as a Department manager along side the store manager in order to grow the team and the business at Decathlon Wednesbury
