Position overview:
To lead the design, implementation, sustainment and continuous improvement of Lean Enterprise deployment and Project Management to the manufacturing functions and processes at plant level. To lead the delivery of bottom-line benefits from improvement projects in line with the Strategy. To instil energy, enthusiasm and rigour to the Transactional Lean Journey and be a change agent for the Operational Excellence transformation.
Key responsibilities include:
• Lead the development and implementation of the appropriate governance to ensure that business processes are fit-for-purpose and continuously improved, and that projects at all levels are appropriately resourced and managed to ensure on-time in-full delivery.
• A process for the identification, prioritisation and selection of the most critical projects that will deliver bottom-line and customer satisfaction benefits.
• A process and a set of KPIs for articulating Lean business benefits (cost reduction, profit and efficiency improvements, sales and customer value enhancement, data integrity, Right First Time) that ensures transparency of delivered benefits to the bottom line.
• Use of Lean Six Sigma and project management tools and practices, as well as lean capabilities to prioritize activities, drive a structured business improvement program and ensure that the team members put in practice a project management way of thinking and it becomes embedded in the culture (PDCA, DMAIC, gate reviews, responsibilities and accountabilities (RACI), project review discipline).
• The documentation of key business processes, assessment of their maturity using the Lean Audit toolkit, and the development of an improvement strategy that will increase process maturity as measured by lean audit scores and external benchmarks.
• The sharing of best practice from projects and business process maturity across the region.
• Lead the delivery of year-on-year bottom line benefits through project activity in line with business requirements.
• To develop and implement a strategy for nurturing and improving the lean and project management capabilities and behaviours of senior leaders and departmental team members. This includes coaching, training and putting the tools and capabilities in place to get function-wide (and corporate-wide) impact for management of projects and initiatives.
Experience and skills required:
• Lean Six Sigma certification
• Degree in Science, Engineering or Business
• IT skills (Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Word) and MINITAB
• Project management skills
