Primary Purpose of this Position:
The Capital and Process Standards role establishes industry-leading practices in Ball’s Global Engineering process, directing standardized activities including Capital Project Engineering, Process Optimization/Innovation, and Technical Licensee support.
What will you be responsible for?
Project Engineering: including establishing best practices for design and utilization of can lines. Responsible for plant design with values ranging from $200m to $400m.
Process Optimization / Innovation: including acting as the subject matter experts for optimizing, improving and developing processes with existing technology for utility, power, civil construction and waste water systems. Expectations are to provide standard and cost effective solutions.
Technical licensee support: managing the communications, information flows and the financial reconciliation.
Direct the provision of engineering and technical support to the regional and joint venture engineering teams.
Oversee the establishment of a platform to enable global collaboration to solve complex problems and share solutions. As well as global technology and software platforms to enable global document management and control.
Oversee preparation of large capital project cost estimates for the strategic plan, operating plan and AFE process and control over capital project budgets and expenditures.
Set standards for capital budgeting and control. Ensuring governance and processes in place to ensure accurate cost estimation and budgetary control.
Collaborate and work closing with Capital Procurement and key suppliers of major capital equipment and services. Working closely entails design of plants and lines, including detailing aspects for equipment.
Oversee the transition of development equipment and processes to Operations from initial concepts, through testing and concluding with final rollout/standardization potential. Requires close work with suppliers and Ball internal ‘Good Ideas’ processes.
Responsible for the transition of Ball production innovations to production ready. Entails working closely with Global Innovation teams and Operations are process innovation moves form Alpha state to trial phase
What are we looking for?
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in experience in project engineering leadership, particularly in establishing best practices for design and utilization.
Minimum of 7 years of experience managing technology in a large, complex environment.
Minimum of 7 years of experience generating business cases/ROI, performing technology selection and vendor management.
The ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard information services techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Knowledge of programming, systems design, computer operating systems and utilities, project management, risk management, security, cost management, implementation and start-up of new business processes and computerized systems.
Knowledge of purchasing, legal contracts, taxes, leases, licenses, accounting, economics, depreciation, capitalization, accruals, ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), EAR (Export Administration Regulations), auditing (internal and external), insurance, and contract negotiations.
Knowledge of system and business principles, practices, nomenclature, and procedures.
