Description
The Automation Technician maintains, diagnoses, and repairs issues with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to ensure they are operational and meet safety standards.
40 hours per week :Sun: 3:30am to 12:00PM, Monday to Thursday: 7:30am to 4:00PM,
Responsibilities
Planning work processes
Performing planned/unplanned maintenance duties on automated sorting equipment, like Shoe Sorter System
Proficiency in low and high voltage systems, including troubleshooting and installation.
Working knowledge of electrical principles, conduit, circuitry, power, and distribution
Knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines such as Canadian Electrical Code
Following blueprints or engineering specifications for installation and repair
Troubleshooting and programming automated equipment, mostly PLC based.
Performing diagnosis and repairs on automation PCs, Servers, PLCs and associated components, variable frequency drives (VFD’s), ProfiBus and other related electronic hardware components.
Understand the overall control structure, liaison with and support vendors in remote trouble sessions.
Supporting other mechanical and electrical trades people, as well as operation team.
Experience
Requires three years of college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and related practical experience.
Required & must hold an Electrician Redseal Ticket.
Minimum 3 to 5 years’ hands-on experience in troubleshooting and programming of automated equipment/system.
Motor control and PLC program training are required; Rockwell automation certification is considered as an asset.
Fundamental knowledge of computer system and servers. In depth understanding of electronic components.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, proven diagnostic skills to systematically identify and resolve technical problems.
Hands on experience of Variable frequency drives and programming.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Manual dexterity and attention to detail
Self-motivated and calm under pressure
Able to lift up to 50lbs
Must possess personal tools as identified by company.
Education
Diploma in Engineering Technology or completion of course equivalency in automation programs from a recognized educational institution
