It’s a great opportunity for a Mechanical and Electrical Fitter working in the West Anglia Team. Due to the nature of our work we’re looking for you to live somewhere within 30 minutes of Luton, Bedford, Royston or Stevenage.

As a Mechanical and Electrical Fitter you’ll generally be working in a team of 2 to 10 people and be involved with maintenance, refurbishment or replacement work on electricity substations. This could be from single asset replacements such as circuit breakers and transformers to maintaining/repairing aging high speed on load tap changers or complex 400kV circuit breakers. We also work on all kinds of ancillary equipment, DC battery systems, air compressors, diesels etc.
What you’ll need
A minimum Level 2/3 Apprenticeship in engineering or a level 3 Electrical/Mechanical qualification with the relevant experience. A Full UK Driving Licence. You can use a computer. Substation experienced – Desirable. IOSH – Desirable.
Some of the key skill areas we look for are Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Safety Procedures, Working at Height, Lifting Operations, Panel Wiring, and Fault Finding. It is not necessary that a successful candidate requires all of the above skillsets, but a wide breadth of knowledge would be beneficial. Prior knowledge/experience within the electricity supply industry would be beneficial but not a requirement. On job and Formal training will be available for development purposes.
