Role: UK Risk Assurance Analyst- Belfast

 

Location: Belfast with hybrid working

 

This role is being offered on a permanent basis.

 

Are you interested in playing a vital role in providing independent second line assurance on business processes, systems and controls to manage key compliance and operational risks within AIB UK?

UK Risk & Compliance Assurance is a second line of defence function comprising of Operational Risk and Compliance assurance, reporting to the Head of UK Operational Risk. AIB UK is a dynamic business and Risk plays a key role in providing second line assurance to the Senior Management Team and the UK Board as to the standard of the control environment.  The role will present exciting learning and career development opportunities for individuals working within the team. 

Within Risk & Compliance Assurance, the primary objective of the team is to provide an independent evaluation of business processes, systems and controls in place to manage key compliance and operational risks (including AML and financial crime).   Also, to support business areas in identifying gaps in their controls and provide remediation recommendations to senior management to enable continuous improvement in the control environment, ensuring that the Bank has a robust and compliant infrastructure in place in order to fulfil its regulatory obligations.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist the Review Lead in the preparation and scoping of assurance reviews.
  • Conduct all testing and monitoring in a comprehensive and professional manner.
  • Assist in the drafting and agreeing of actions and timelines with the relevant business area.
  • Exercise sound judgement in the need to escalate issues to the Review Lead and Head of UK Risk Assurance.
  • Produce clear, balanced and subjective draft reports on a timely basis.
  • Track completion of issues and actions, liaise with the relevant business areas for updates and report on any overdue actions.
  • Contribute to Committee and Board reports to ensure Senior Management are up to date and informed of any key compliance and regulatory issues which may have arisen.
  • Effectively plan and prioritise in order to deliver against the annual UK Assurance Plan.
  • Support and embed a strong risk culture at all times.

What you will bring:

 

  1. Experience within the banking industry, with a sound understanding of processes, key products and business activities, and in particular the regulatory environment in which we operate. Experience within control testing, audit or assurance would be an advantage.
  2. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, together with an ability to interact and influence across different levels of the organisation.
  3. Good organisational skills, with proven ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines whilst working in a high-pressure environment.
  4. High motivation skills, with a proven ability to work on own initiative and as part of a small team.
  5. The ability to collect, analyse and interpret data to reach conclusions and present insights and findings.
