We are seeking a highly motivated Non-destructive Examinations (NDE) Specialist or Sr NDE Specialist to perform Eddy Current analysis for the Dominion Energy Nuclear Fleet in support of the Steam Generator and Balance of Plant Heat Exchanger Programs. The NDE team works in the corporate Nuclear Engineering and Fuel department. The NDE team provides direction and oversight support to NDE inspections performed across the fleet. The NDE specialists develop, update and maintain NDE procedures to ensure compliance with applicable requirements. Audit contractors, vendors and applicable documents for compliance to Dominion written procedures, codes and standards. Act as technical authority and provide NDE guidance to NDE Inspectors and other departments to ensure proper communication and interpretation of test results and prompt repair of components. programs. Perform NDE inspections of power plant components using advanced methods. The Eddy Current Level II/III is responsible for the following key activities: Perform nondestructive examinations (NDE) of power plant components including steam generators and all heat exchangers within scope of the heat exchanger and steam generator programs during scheduled and forced outage situations. Monitor and coordinate the repairs resulting from the inspection. Document findings to be included in startup assessment reports to include recommended changes to analysis guidelines as necessary. Review eddy current data for vendor performed flux thimble tubes and balance of plant heat exchanger inspections. Review and approve Eddy Current Analysis Guidelines including reviewing the degradation assessments and condition monitoring assessment to ensure compliance with Technical Specifications, NEI 97-06, and EPRI guidelines. Specify the tube repair/plugging methods as applicable in accordance with industry standards and technical specifications. Review and approve vendor examination personnel certifications and procedures. Provide oversight of the training and testing of data analysts. Review and validate vendor recommended inspection plans identified in the degradation assessment. Schedule and coordinate standard, or portions of large, NDE inspection programs. Provide technical NDE guidance to engineering, maintenance and operating departments to ensure proper communication and interpretation of test results and prompt repair of components. Coordinate the work of contract personnel and less experienced inspectors. Responsible for duties such as: updating and maintaining logs, eddy current data management system, records and files, and preparing NDE procedures and inspection plans. Travel to stations to provide NDE support for outages and oversight of vendor eddy current examinations.
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:
NDE Specialist: 5-6+years OF NDE related experience in Nuclear Power. Sr NDE Specialist: 7+ years of NDE related experience in nuclear power
In depth knowledge of various non-destructive testing methods and their application in nuclear power plants.
Familiarity with the requirements of ASME, ANSI, and ASNT Codes and Standards relative to fabrication and in-service
Inspection.
Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
Bachelor
Preferred Disciplines: Technical
Other disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above
Candidate must certify to Dominion Energy NDE Written Practices
The most qualified candidate for this position would have:
Qualified Data Analyst Certification
Experience with steam generator inspection regulatory requirements and vendor exam processes.
Experience with Balance of Plant Heat Exchanger inspections
A demonstrated ability to plan inspection work activities with multiple nuclear plant departments and approved vendors; and
Effective communication skills for engaging nuclear management, station stakeholders, vendors, and the regulator.
Certification in other NDE methods (e.g., Liquid Dye Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Radiography (RT), Ultrasonic (UT)) preferred.
Requires working irregular or additional hours for project completion and on-call rotation. Requires travel with overnight stays. Must have a valid driver's license.
