Hello. We’re Severn Trent and we think water is wonderful. And we’re pretty keen on people too. We love to welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality, as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our customers.

We think everyone in our community deserves a great job, no matter what. That’s why we’re introducing our new Returners Programme, designed to give wonderful people who’ve been out of work in their profession for 18 months or more, a fantastic opportunity to get back into what they love.

No matter the reason for taking a career break – we’d love to hear from you.

Everything you need to know

Whether you’ve been on parental leave, have caregiving duties or pursuing other personal matters, we understand that returning to work can be daunting. That’s why we’ve created a flexible and supportive Returners Programme within our finance team, designed to refresh your skills, gain hands-on experience, rebuild your confidence, and reignite your passion for finance.

We’re looking to support finance professionals, who are keen to return to work, by offering a paid 6-month part-time or full-time role within our finance team (Don’t worry, we’ll work the hours around you). Plus, you’ll also have the possibility of securing a permanent role at the end of the programme.

You’ll be based at our head office in Coventry City Centre and joining us in May 2024.

We want to make you feel comfortable at work, which is why you’ll be a member of our returners network, have access to a mentor within the business and the opportunity to learn at our very own Academy, which will give you the support and training for both your professional and personal development.

What you’ll bring to the role

We’re looking for people that are from a finance, accounting, or related background, who have been out of finance related work for 18 months or more.

You’ll also be:

  • Open to getting to know our business and collaborating with our teams to work towards our ambitious company goals.
  • You’ll be contributing to activities which are critical to our Finance Team and achieving our strategic ambitions.
  • Participate in and familiarise yourself with our company culture, processes, and systems.
  • Collaborate with a number of teams within finance and across the business to gain experience and develop new skills.
  • Open to a personalised mentorship from experienced professionals within the business who will support your growth and development.
  • Engage in continuous learning opportunities through workshops and training sessions through our Academy, and collaborate in our networking group.
  • Hold a financial qualification in ACCA, ACA or CIMA. We’re also open to part qualified individuals.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We employ thousands of people from across our community who really care about what they do. Because that is how we do what we do.

And when it comes to inclusion, we’re making sure we keep up the progress with our wonderful working groups – LGBTQ+, Women in Operations & STEM, Disability and Ethnicity, who help us do just that.

What’s in it for you

You’ll be employed by a FTSE 100 company and be partnered with a team within finance that best reflects your skills and background. This means you will be involved in relevant projects and have access to the best support.  This could be a role in Treasury and Risk, Finance Customer Operations, Internal Audit, Financial Performance and Reporting, Procurement, Investor Relations, or Financial Control.

During your programme, you’ll have access to a range of benefits that reward and recognise great work and award-winning training. Here’s some of our favourites:

  • 28 days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/ sell up to 5 days per year)
  • Leading pension scheme – we will double your contribution (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%)
  • Dedicated training and development with our ‘Academy’
  • Family friendly policies (including, a year off paid for maternity and adoption leave)
  • Two volunteering days per year

WHATS NEXT?

We can’t wait to hear from you.

Before you apply, you’ll need an updated copy of your CV and about five minutes to spare (Don’t worry, a cover letter isn’t a requirement).
