Assistant Quantity Surveyor at Severn Trent
Coventry, United Kingdom

Job Descrption

Are you an experienced commercial professional looking to expand your skills and experience?

Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care.

Which is why we are investing over £565 million into the new Green Recovery Programme, to improve the lives of the communities we serve. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of the supply pipes team within the programme. You will play an essential part in replacing approximately 26,000 water supply pipes, while notably reducing leakage from customer’s pipes. The significance of the work you will do as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor makes this such an exciting project to be a part of.

Are you an Assistant or Junior Quantity Surveyor looking for something new? Perhaps you are in the Construction industry and want to learn something new?

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We’re looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is up for something different, to join a successful, diverse and highly engaged team within our green recover team.

In this role you’ll negotiate contracts and provide commercial support throughout delivery, working closely with our design and delivery teams to manage internal and external stakeholders.

Supporting our Project Managers to make sure contracts are managed, including assessment of contract events and applications for payment, issuing contract notifications, and leading on dispute resolution.

Key to your success in the role will be the confidence to develop sourcing and contract strategies, and to draft, test and negotiate work orders with our contractors.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

We want people who show up and roll their sleeves up. Do you have a passion to be part of something bigger, something ground-breaking whether that’s for the environment or your community. We’d love to hear from you if…

  • Have excellent communication skills to liaise and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail to ensure compliance with our procedures and accurate reporting through our systems.
  • Have a passion for delivering great value for customers.
  • Ability to support the team with contractual issues.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a background in the utility sector – we welcome anyone with the relevant transferable skills and a can-do attitude. In return, we will support you every step of the way in your career journey with us, and that includes sponsoring your professional qualifications and investing in your ongoing development through our career progression framework.

The right skills and experience are important. But if you have the right character, positivity and a caring attitude we want to talk to you, too.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We want people who show up and get involve. Those who are ready to be part of something bigger and who want to make a difference because they care. Is that you?

We do more, because we care.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

It’s not just a job you’ll get here, you’ll get a career too. We have a range of benefits that reward and recognise great work and award-winning training to ensure you reach your potential. And we’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the community in which we live.  Here’s some of our favourites:

  • 28 days holiday + bank holidays (and the ability to buy/ sell up to 5 additional days per year)
  • Annual bonus scheme (of up to £2,250 depending on company performance)
  • Leading pension scheme – we will double your contribution (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%)
