Community Communications Officer at Severn Trent
Derby, United Kingdom

Job Descrption

Want to do the best work of your life? Playing your part in making a big difference to the environment and communities we serve. Our people make Severn Trent a truly exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be yourself and let your skills shine.

Our purpose is taking care of one of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care. We want our work to bring value to our customers and improve the services we provide.

By engaging with communities through hyper-local, focussed activities, we can let our customers know what we’re doing and share the benefits it will bring to them.

Keeping in mind the impact our activities have on their daily lives and to take action to ensure customers are thought of and work is carried out considerately, with minimal impact.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

We’re looking for a dynamic Community Communications Officer to join the team on a 12 month contract basis, who is proactive in their engagement with customers and key stakeholders whilst utilising a range of communication and engagement channels.

Working as a subject matter expert within Nottinghamshire, you’ll help manage all the customer and stakeholder communication, comms channels and day-to-day customer engagement.

Focus on building a picture of localised issues our customers face such as bursts, water quality and flooding and how our capital programme will help to mitigate them.

You’ll also be working closely with our Community Fund and Education programme teams as well as our wider Comms family.

Your key accountabilities in helping us will be:

  • Stakeholder and customer management planning with Severn Trent project teams and contractors
  • Work closely with CCS Design and Delivery Teams to assess the impact on CMeX
  • Ownership of the Customer Management Plan
  • All stakeholder and customer comms (excluding Traffic Management)
  • All customer comms channels – including letters, webpages, press releases, community engagement, public exhibitions, hyperlocal marketing and social media and internal comms
  • Provide regular updates to project teams, local County Comms Group and the wider Comms teams
  • Be subject matter expert in one or more counties within the Severn Trent region
  • Management of customer complaint process and end of scheme customer feedback process
  • Management of Severn Trent’s brand and reputation, helping to ensure a single brand strategy is used throughout the customer journey of our planned work programme

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

Of course, it’s important that we attract the right skill sets, and those with the right experience but we value character, positivity and a caring attitude in equal weight.

You’ll come to Severn Trent with demonstratable communications and stakeholder experience as well as previous experience of managing customer communication channels. You’ll have strong influencing and customer management skills as well as a customer-centric thinking and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Due to the location of the planned projects it is essential for you to hold a Full UK Driving License and have both the ability and willingness to travel across our region on a regular basis.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We employ thousands of people from across our community who really care about what they do. Because that is how we do what we do.

We have a range of benefits that recognise great work, and award-winning training to help you reach your potential.
