Content Manager at ExpressVPN
London, United Kingdom

Job Descrption

Are you the kind of content person who lives to dominate the SERP? Are you an avid consumer of pop culture who loves directing people to what’s hot right now? Are you determined to master new techniques and technologies, without letting them master you?

Then we’ve got just the place for you. As a Content Manager with a focus on organic channels, you will be the key driver leading ExpressVPN to new heights. And with a website that already draws over 20 million unique visitors a month, your words will find an audience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set (and hit) ambitious goals: You’ll need to understand the success metrics, monitor progress, and motivate the team by making sure everyone understands how they can contribute.
  • Identify content opportunities: In a highly competitive industry, you’ll need to take input from all directions and iterate on what’s successful, while discarding what isn’t. You’ll take your cues from search volumes, from customer requests and reviews, from affiliate partners, from competitor sites, from our product team and engineers, and from your own deep understanding of the marketplace and the customer. You’ll decide the most productive paths forward and how to prioritize.
  • Know the use cases: You will understand, better than anyone, exactly what our product is good for, how customers use it, and how it works, including its interactions with devices and services all around the world.
  • Write, edit, and publish: A skilled wordsmith who knows how to use a style guide and content management systems, you should be comfortable being the “last eyes” on any content before it goes live.
  • Protect our customers and our company: Ensure our content is accurate, high-quality, and meets all business requirements, from regulatory compliance to brand voice.
  • Embrace new technologies and ways of working: Keep abreast of developments in content marketing, creation, and management. Be eager to learn new tools and foster their use within your team. Be innovative, but don’t force square pegs into round holes.
  • Team development and people leadership: Manage content strategists (both on-staff and freelance), both up close and around the world. Know how to get the best from people, and understand how their personal growth fits into the company’s future.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years, but ideally 10 or more, in content management or similar roles (journalism, PR, copywriting, comms).
  • Knowledge of SEO and content creation tools, such as Google Analytics, Ahrefs, Semrush, Search Console, and whatever else gets the job done. If you’ve got a secret weapon, be ready to teach it.
  • Understanding of AI. Know what it’s good for, and what it’s not. Be willing to experiment and learn.
  • Data proficiency. Be able to analyze multiple stats and make informed decisions based on what the numbers tell you.
  • Leadership and communication. You’ll need to work (and inspire) across time zones, write succinct and successful briefs, persuade competing stakeholders, answer questions directly, and report on progress.
  • Industry passion. Believe in online privacy, security, and freedom, and expect to be a positive change in the digital world.

Benefits

Health and happiness go hand in hand, and we make every effort to support our team members in all facets of their lives—both inside and outside the office. Learn more about our employee benefits by visiting our careers page.
