What you will be doing
This is an exciting time to join Breathe. Having proven the value of our products in both the automotive and consumer electronics spaces, we are scaling our team to expand our product delivery and development capabilities. You will work with some of the brightest minds in the battery space to turn the latest research into tangible improvements in battery performance. You will analyse cells and communicate the results to our team to enable them to deliver software to some of the largest and best-known auto and device manufacturers in the world. Simultaneously, you’ll help build new practices and processes to enable us to do this increasingly efficiently as we scale the business.
As well as the ability to learn from and with a room full of experts working at the cutting edge of the industry, we will provide the support and training to develop your skills as a developer, be that via courses, conferences or other learning opportunities / materials.
Your responsibilities
Perform chemical and electrochemical experiments in a glovebox and a fume hood
Instrument test cells for electrochemical characterisation
Set up, conduct and monitor electrochemical tests on instrumented cells
Document experimental processes and report test results
Develop new experimental methods for battery model parametrisation
Organise and carry out equipment maintenance and calibration in Electrochemistry Laboratory
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in Electrochemistry Laboratory
Requirements
Masters degree in chemistry, engineering, or other relevant subject
Hands-on experience in chemical and electrochemical experiments in a glovebox
Knowledge of cell chemistry and working mechanisms of lithium-ion batteries
Ability to design and conduct experiments to study a scientific question
Ability to document and communicate experimental processes and results
Ability to implement chemistry safety procedures including CoSHH and risk assessments
Basic programming in Matlab is a plus but not essential
Experience with handling compressed gas is a plus but not essential
A team player with a proactive attitude and ability to work autonomously
Adaptability in an innovative and rapidly scaling environment
