The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Freight Operator to join Javelin’s Logistics team reporting into the Head of Freight Operations. This is a team of 18 employees spread across London, Singapore, US & India, with a tight-knit, collegiate atmosphere and uncapped potential to learn through the regular interaction with the Trading, Technology, Accounting and Documents/Settlements teams.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Preparing voyage orders.
• Optimization of cargo intake & bunker requirements in coordination with chartering and trading desks.
• Agency appointments
• Minimize operational cost and control of voyage overall PNL results.
• Weather routing appointment and monitoring of ships performance at sea.
• Checking and approval of cargo documentation
• Issuing of freight invoice, hire payments and laytime calculation as required.
• Claims handling overview.
• Other ad-hoc responsibilities to develop over time.

Requirements

• 2-3 years experience in a similar role
• Graduate ideally in a shipping/logistics degree
• Strong Excel skills.  Familiar with shipping software ideally Veson
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with a global team
• A capable, enthusiastic individual who is a self-starter, able to work under pressure and comfortable with taking initiative
• Ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage time effectively
• Self-motivated and able to collaborate effectively with a global team.
