About The Role
The SeniorElectrical Engineer will design, implement, commission electrical, electro-mechanical, and electronic systems.
Specify, design, develop, fabricate and commission custom electrical, electro-mechanical and electronic systems, encompassing high voltage and high current techniques, low voltage power distribution, fault analysis, and integration with control and data acquisition systems.
Provide detailed specifications and support the procurement of commercial off-the-shelf electrical and electronic products ensuring regulatory compliance to all relevant standards.
Produce and examine drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, test reports and other documentation at all stages in the project from the concept through to full manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.
Manage project documentation and revision control in accordance with requirements of the ISO 9001 quality management system.
Support projects with confident knowledge of electrical hardware designed for EMC, safety, and reliability.
Interface with engineers and physicists developing experimental and custom systems.
About You
Over 8 years of experience designing, evaluating, developing electrical power systems drawings and documentation.
Over 3 years’ experience of computer systems and networks used in a control system or industrial environment.
At least 3 years’ experience with high voltage measurement techniques and hardware.
Technical Experience (Equipment, Tools, etc.) using the following:
High voltage, voltage & current measurement techniques
High voltage power supplies and familiarity with basic power electronic topologies
High voltage and low voltage power transmission and distribution design and analysis
Standard 19” rack cabinet component hardware
Electrical panel layout hardware
Nuclear environment materials
Multi-conductor and single conductor cable assembly design
Power safety systems hardware (circuit breakers, relays, contactors, switches, surge suppression)
Grounding systems design and electrical continuity and bonding
Oscilloscopes, DC Power Supplies, Function Generators
High voltage and low voltage electronic elements (Transistors, Diodes, & Passive Elements).
Vacuum systems hardware and methods
National Instruments hardware, PXI, PXIe
Allen Bradley hardware
Mathematical modeling using Python, MATLAB
Knowledge of 2D CAD Software SolidWorks Electrical is required.
Knowledge of 2D CAD Software Dassault Systems Draftsight is required.
Use of Intranet systems for documentation, tasks, and issue tracking, e.g., Confluence/Jira required.
Proficiency in interpreting and using Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams required.
Proficiency in Arena Quality Management System and ISO 9001 & ISO 13485 Processes required.
Strong Familiarity with IEC 601010 electrical safety standard.
Interest in large scientific projects, medical systems.
Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, MATLAB, Simulink, and Adobe Software Suite.
Proficiency in facility systems engineering (power, lighting, fire alarm and data) design & documentation including topographic mapping, understanding floor plans, riser diagrams, ceiling plans, and site plans is preferred.
Some proficiency in: CAD Software SolidWorks, Electrostatic Analysis, RF Analysis.
Some overseas travel to client sites may be necessary.
Education
Required: B.S. in Electrical Engineering
Preferred: M.S. or PhD in Electrical Engineering
