Default Servicing at Valon
The Default Servicing team manages all default-related processes and resolves mortgage loans that are in default. The team is crucial to Valon and the broader mortgage ecosystem, as it helps prevent foreclosures and minimize losses for investors. Homeowner transparency and financial literacy is always a focal point to our people, process and product and we strive to help homeowners who need additional support to keep their dream of homeownership alive.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Default Analyst, you will play a key role in the Default Asset Management department and oversee its daily operations. This role demands a proactive problem-solver who excels at addressing complex challenges. Your core duties will involve managing default-related correspondence, overseeing daily processes, coordinating with external vendors, monitoring loans impacted by disasters, and managing and maintaining Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) plans. In addition, you will be expected to take on other responsibilities as assigned by Valon Leadership, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Handle and respond to default-related communications, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of issues.
Manage day-to-day processes within the Default Asset Management department to ensure efficiency and compliance with company policies.
Work with external vendors to ensure seamless operations and maintain positive relationships for service continuity.
Track loans impacted by disasters and implement appropriate measures to address related challenges.
Oversee and maintain HAF plans, ensuring proper application of funds and compliance with relevant guidelines.
Analyze complex issues related to default asset management and develop effective solutions to ensure smooth operations.
Be prepared to take on other duties as assigned by Valon Leadership, demonstrating a flexible and adaptive approach to work.
IDEAL BACKGROUND
3+ years of Mortgage Default Servicing experience required.
The role demands strong independent judgment, as it will be a key resource for the Senior Leadership Team.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Strong organizational skills and consistent follow-up, ensuring efficient task prioritization and meeting deadlines.
Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems and propose effective solutions to improve efficiency.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling clear and effective interaction with team members, clients, and external stakeholders.
High attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring precision in documentation and data management.
Proven experience in Mortgage Servicing, Default Servicing, or Portfolio Management demonstrating comprehensive industry knowledge.
Familiarity with FNMA and FHLMC servicing processes and standards, indicating an understanding of the regulatory environment.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to handle practical issues and adapt to various unique situations, reflecting flexibility and creativity.
Availability for and active participation in regular meetings, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
