Description
To provide overnight support to the College campus; acting as a first point of contact in an emergency, ensuring the security of College premises and the safety of students and staff.
Casual hours, as required but to be within the range of 9pm and 9am 52 weeks per year. Worked according to rota
Key Responsibilities
Duty management and security• To be the first point of contact regarding any issues that may arise out of normal College hours and make decisions on the smooth resolution of these issues.
• To be responsible for securing and alarming all College buildings as and when required, making sure College campus is safe and secure from unauthorised visitors.
• To respond to any security incidents, including contacting police/emergency services as appropriate.
• To access the campus CCTV system, whilst on duty, to ensure the security of the campus is maintained. To pass evidence to the emergency services of any incidents, that may arise, on their request.
• To provide on-site support to residential houses in the event of an emergency.
• To complete the duty managers electronic log system, effectively and accurately, with all duty activities.
• Report and complete incident forms as and when required, in line with QAC safeguarding and incident reporting procedures.
• To make own judgment as to whether the CMT member on call is to be contacted regarding any emergency that may arise, in line with QAC policies and procedures.
Health and safety• To be the first point of contact for all Health & Safety issues whilst on duty.
• To undertake First Aid and Fire Marshall roles whilst on duty.
• To make First Aid assessments, across campus activity, if no other First Aider is available.
Operational• To be the first point of contact if maintenance issues arise, to assess accordingly and call out Maintenance if required.
General• To organise shift swap with another Duty Manager if and when required through the Lead Duty Manager.
• To undertake any training necessary for the post, including mandatory and refresher training, as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Qualifications & Training GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English or equivalent.
First Aid trained (Desirable)
Skills & ExpertiseExcellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to work independently and on own initiative
Demonstrate experience of excellent customer service.
Experience & KnowledgeExperience of lone working
Previous experience of working with people who have a disability, including visual impairments (Desirable)
Previous experience of working within a security role on a rota basis (Desirable)
