About the Role

The US Tax Senior Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the organization's tax-related matters, with a primary focus on US income corporate tax, sales tax, import duty, IRA tax credit and various state and federal tax obligations. This role requires a strong understanding of tax regulations, compliance requirements, and strategic planning to ensure accurate and efficient tax operations that align with the company's financial goals and legal obligations.

What You Will Do

  • Tax Strategy and Planning:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies that optimize the organization's tax position while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with executive management to align tax strategies with overall business objectives and financial planning.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation, review, and filing of all required federal, state, and local tax returns, including corporate income tax, sales tax, and import duty filings.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations to proactively address potential impacts on the organization's tax obligations.
  • Tax Risk Management:
  • Identify and assess tax risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities for tax savings.
  • Implement internal controls and processes to minimize tax-related risks and ensure compliance with internal policies.
  • Research and Analysis:
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of complex tax issues, providing clear and concise interpretations and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
  • Stay informed about industry-specific tax developments and trends to anticipate potential impacts on the organization.
  • Support IRA tax credit application and monitoring. 
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Liaise with external tax advisors, auditors, and government agencies as necessary to address inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure accurate and consistent tax reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to gather relevant information and align on tax-related matters.
  • Tax Compliance Technology:
  • Leverage tax technology tools and software to streamline tax compliance processes, enhance accuracy, and improve efficiency in data management and reporting.
  • Audit Support:
  • Manage and coordinate responses to tax audits, inquiries, and assessments from relevant tax authorities.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation to support the organization's tax positions and compliance activities. 
  • Leadership and Team Management:
  • Potentially lead and mentor a team of US tax professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement within the tax department.

What You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master's degree or CPA preferred.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in corporate tax, including substantial experience with federal and state income tax, sales tax, and import duties.
  • Strong understanding of IRA credits and other tax incentives.
  • In-depth knowledge of US tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or management role, with the ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex tax matters to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite

Work Environment 

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic. The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.
