TJO is seeking a Product Development Intern to join our Salt Lake City office. This role will provide students with real-life hands-on experience and mentoring in the orthopedic medical device industry. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute directly to implant and instrument development projects that will impact TJO’s product offerings. While primarily working within Product Development, interns will also interact with other departments, including Quality, Regulatory, and Logistics to understand the entire process of creating a medical device. This internship will give students a glimpse into engineering, orthopedics, and medical devices to determine if it’s an industry they would like to pursue further.
The Product Development Intern will:
• Contribute to various aspects of a project including research, product design, product specifications, prototyping, testing, inspection, regulatory release, etc.
• Work cooperatively with various departments including Product Development, Quality and Regulatory, Operations, Customer Service, and Marketing
• Create concepts and prototypes for new products and product updates
• Put together and present an end-of-internship presentation to TJO, stakeholders, and surgeons
Requirements
• Must be competent with CAD modeling software and familiar with SolidWorks
• Currently working towards a BS in Biomedical, Mechanical Engineering, or another applicable technical field
- Students entering their last year of undergraduate are highly preferred
• Curious about orthopedics and medical devices
• Great critical thinking skills and the drive to solve problems in the medical device field
• Desire to continuously learn and improve your own skill set
