Job Description

Role Summary

As part of the Delivery Hero network, Talabat is the pioneer of the online food ordering industry in the Middle East. Our operations span across Kuwait, Egypt, KSA, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

We are looking for a Design System - Product Design Manager to join the talabat Design System team and drive the visual direction of our product experience on iOS and Android. As a Design System Manager, you’ll apply your passion for visual design to help define and evolve talabat’s design language to deliver an experience that reinforces our brand, enhances interactivity, and delights our users.

What’s On Your Plate?

• Own and lead the visual design direction of our products
• Frame a vision for art direction, photography, and illustration
• Ensure our work communicates clearly, is on brand, and delights users
• Explain, discuss, and justify design decisions eloquently. Give effective feedback and direction 
• Lead the definition and creation of a flexible, coherent design system and component library for our product
• Collaborate closely with fellow product designers, product managers and engineers to define, challenge and solve complex problems to enhance interactivity and delight users
• Take charge of the consistency of visual experience across our products, with scalability in mind
• Evolve our design language to match future requirements and add delight by introducing micro-interactions, animations, and transitions
• Coordinate with researchers and developers to ensure the impact and feasibility of proposed designs
• Support developers and QA to ensure high-quality output
• Perform regular design audits and drive visual strategy based on the outcome
• Be updated about the latest design trends and best practices, evaluate what’s applicable to our context, and share insights to the team
• Offer mentorship to junior team members

Qualifications

What Did We Order?

• Advance Visual Design as a discipline and a practice
• 7+ years of experience in Visual Design
• 5+ years of experience working, building, and maintaining a design system
• Strong leadership and management skills of a design system team
• Experienced working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering; and Brand
• Deep expertise in visual, design system, and brand design with a good eye for fantastic design
• Great understanding of visual harmony, information hierarchy, and design patterns
• User-centered design focus
• Experience designing for Android and iOS with accessibility and usability in mind
• Experience in writing simple and clear design documentation for multiple audiences (designers, developers, product managers, and other stakeholders)
• Experience in running alignment workshops
• Strong portfolio demonstrating your work (Building a design vision from art direction to establishing a design language)
• Excellent communication skills, able to clearly articulate ideas and decisions
• Should know how to govern a design system thoughtfully.
• Be able to understand the different areas of our product, and where our standards should be applied. But also know when to back off, leave it alone, and allow that squad to have its own “thing”
• Strong persuasion and relationship-building skills to influence and drive decision-making
• A team player and an excellent collaborator
• Excellent self-organization and ability to plan own work in line with the broader team plans and
