The Youth Futures Team is a new team within the Education Improvement Service at Lancashire County Council and is focused on providing young people with high quality, impartial information, advice and guidance, supporting them to engage in education, employment or training once they have left school. We are seeking a hardworking, creative and enthusiastic person to join the new team and help us to provide a great resource for the young people across Lancashire, supporting them to achieve their potential and secure a positive outcome for their futures.
Your main focus will be supporting young people aged 16 and 17 to engage in education, employment or training. This may be on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. You will be required to liaise with education and training providers, including secondary schools, as well as local employers so that you understand the range of opportunities available to young people. You will also need to develop an understanding of the wider support services available to young people, allowing you to effectively signpost to these where required.
It is an exciting time to join us as you can help shape the work of this new team and make a direct contribution to the achievement of the priorities within our Education Strategy.
It is essential that you are passionate about working with young people and supporting them to be the best they can. Improving the outcomes of all young people across Lancashire, regardless of their ability and background, is a key priority for Lancashire County Council and this post will help us to achieve that.
This is a fixed term, full time position and, whilst the post will be officially based at County Hall in Preston, flexible working arrangements will be available. Whilst you must be committed to travelling within Lancashire and surrounding areas, this post will have a greater focus on the Lancaster and Morecambe area. To undertake this role effectively, the post holder must hold a full driving licence. The post is in place until 9 July 2025.
Please refer to the job description and person specification for more detail, including the essential criteria. Please note that there is a requirement for the post holder to have an enhanced DBS check to undertake this position.
Interviews will take place at County Hall, Preston on 3rd and 7th May 2024
