On 01 April 2020, Blackpool Council and Lancashire County Council formed a Regional Adoption Agency (RAA): Adoption Lancashire and Blackpool. Lancashire County Council are the host authority for the RAA, which provides a comprehensive service to families across the region. The RAA delivers the following services on behalf of the partner Local Authorities: Recruitment & Assessment of adopters; Adoption Support & Family Finding.

We are excited to be expanding our Adoption Support Team with the addition of two qualified social worker positions on a 2 year fixed term basis.

  We are excited to be expanding the support available to our adoptive children and their families having created two additional fixed term social worker positions within our Adoption Support Team.  The successful applicants will be providing support to our adoptive families to explore different parenting approaches and increase their skills and confidence in parenting their children using a therapeutic parenting approach.  They will support parents to explore their children's behavioural and emotional needs through an understanding of attachment theory, child development and the impact of trauma.     The successful applicants will work within the Adoption Support Team in providing both one to one and group based support to adoptive families as part of the delivery of an holistic plan of adoption support.  These posts are currently for a two-year fixed term period.  Relevant training to undertake this work will be provided to the successful applicants.     Careers in Children's Services

You must be registered (SWE) to be appointed as a Social Worker or have applied to register with the Social Care Council. For Social Worker/Care Manager positions where non social worker qualifications are accepted, registration is not required, and you will be appointed as a Care Manager.
