What We're Looking For
Baylor University is seeking an Academic Advisor to support the mission of the University at the Louise Herrington School of Nursing. This position located in Waco, TX.
A Bachelor’s degree, less than one year of relevant experience and an active Christian Faith is required. A Master's degree and three years of experience is preferred.
Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis.
What You Will Do
- Meet with current Baylor Pre-Nursing students as their Academic Advisor of record. Advise them on appropriate courses to move forward in their degree plan in a timely manner. Assist with other student concerns that may be impacting their academic success and making referrals as appropriate.
- Prepare for academic advising appointments. Outreach to students to arrange meetings. Reviewe past academic work prior to meetings. Check for progress issues that need to be addressed in advising appointment.
- Meet with current Baylor students interested in changing majors to Pre-Nursing. Review past academic work. Provide student with timeline for completing Pre-Nursing requirements and discuss nursing school admissions.
- Assist with various recruiting events on the Waco and Dallas campus. This includes, but is not limited to, Distinguished Scholar Day, Preview Day, and the many undergraduate admission recruiting events.
- Attend required training, professional development, etc. to be an effective academic advisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission.
- Ability to comply with University policies.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
