Change & Transformation Lead - Finance at Marks & Spencer

Job Descrption

Fully woven into the DNA of M&S, our Finance team plays a fundamental role in setting the pace for our key business decisions, shaping our budgets, analysing our sales, managing costs and making sure our most vital statistics and data are absolutely accurate. 

Within the Salford Quays Finance Service Centre, we are moving beyond a shared service centre; we play a critical part in the M&S ‘One Finance Team’ and are heading towards our ambition to become a centre of excellence - there’s never been a better time to be part of our team!  

There is a high number of new business-led initiatives that requires the Finance function to review its processes to enable the business change. You'll be the finance lead for these initiatives, ensuring successful implementation. This will involve driving standardisation across the core finance processes (PtP, OtC and RtR), and owning the overall Finance Activity Taxonomy. This also includes building the right capabilities and support structure to manage successful change going forward.

In addition, in the finance function there are a number of process optimisation platforms (e.g. RPA, Chatbots, self-service and Visualisation), this person will be accountable for coordinating the optimisation across the Business Service Centre’s processes.  

What you’ll do  

Your key accountabilities will include  

  • Designing and implementing business led projects in Finance, and designing and communicating Finance processes to other areas of the business when new initiatives are being planned.  
  • Managing the change approach for new, changing or transitioning activities, including training, controls and communication.  
  • Project lead for overall Continuous Improvement projects, including coordinating introducing new innovations eg. RPA, Chatbots, PowerApps, Office Scripts.  
  • Engaging with the wider Finance Leadership team, Project Leads, Technology Teams and Heads of Finance on new initiatives.  
  • Manage the Change and Transformation team of 4 people

Who you are  

Your skills and experience will include  

  • Experience of implementation of Finance process (eg; PtP, OtC and RtR) and controls improvements enabled by technology  
  • Excellent knowledge change and transition methodologies, experience in delivering culture change initiatives, specifically improving colleague/customer experience through mentality and behaviour change  
  • Prior experience of a leadership role in a Finance Process Improvement team 
  • Strong communication and influencing skills across all levels of business partners.  
  • Evidence of analytical and problem-solving skills, and able to build an effective business partnership with business leaders, translating needs and requirements into pragmatic solutions for delivery.
