Execute design work according to the visual language of Mitchell & Ness.
Prepare mood and color trend boards for the respective category.
Design and develop creative solutions to concepts from brief.
Research current trends as well as sport nostalgia to design Lifestyle apparel and headwear product that strengthens the brand image and is market relevant.
Research new fabrics, trims, washes, and logo treatments.
Create comprehensive and detailed tech packs with a good understanding of fabrics, trims, prints and applications in order to deliver fully realized collections.
Provide range plan updates alongside upkeep of files.
Work closely with product developers to ensure designs follow the proper technical specifications and cost parameters.
Responsible for preparation, selection and usage of color, materials, & trims.
Design and develop new silhouettes and shapes.
Preparation of and participation in meetings for specific collections.
Collaborate with supporting departments (Sales, Development, Operations) to ensure quality standards of garment are upheld.
Meet or exceed timelines associated with time and action calendars.
Design quick turn graphics for hot market/collaboration programs, as well as inline product.
Communicate with screen printers to ensure product quality and accuracy.
Potentially travel to printers to do on-site development and approvals.
A thorough knowledge of the latest printing, embroidery and embellishment techniques is required.
Knowledge and Experience:
Through design experience and a portfolio of original work, you must be able to demonstrate skill and knowledge in each of the following areas:
Passion for design.
A proven level of artistic and composition ability.
Ability to translate color, material, and attitude into products.
Knowledge of apparel construction, material construction/properties and graphic applications. Experience with costing and pattern making would be a bonus.
Ability to present design concepts to various internal and external audiences.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of US Sports would be beneficial.
Qualifications:
Education: 4-year degree in relevant area – Fashion Design / Product Design / Graphic Design.
Essential Experience: 3 to 5 years of practical experience in design environment (Footwear/ Apparel/ Accessories) fashion design or similar design related areas).
Must have strong knowledge of fashion design/sportwear design/ Graphic Design and or headwear design.
Must have strong presentation and communication skills, be extremely detail oriented and be able to work as a team player.
Must have strong knowledge of product development, material and trims for assigned product ranges.
Be a self-starter with a pro-active approach to work and the ability to work independently.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and requests, while working under pressure with sensitivity to deadlines.
Good attitude and flexible approach
Must be enthusiastic and passionate about sports culture & design
Must have high level of creativity, be adaptable, fast and proactive.
Must have strong skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
