Smartsheet is looking for an energetic, forward-thinking, creative, and detailed-oriented marketer to support our Corporate Events & Sponsorships team. The Corporate Events & Sponsorships team plans, executes, and owns the success metrics for a range of in-person events including the annual ENGAGE customer conference, our presence at various 3rd party Trade Shows, plus our portfolio of strategic sports rights holder sponsorships.
The Corporate Events and Sponsorships Director is an IC role at one of the world’s leading SaaS/cloud companies, that will plan and deliver world-class, engaging, in-person first and third party events for Smartsheet audiences and stakeholders. This role will also manage ongoing partnerships with our strategic sponsorship partners, including brand activations, and contractual rights holder gives/gets. The ultimate goals of the position are to drive brand awareness and revenue growth, and deepen relationships with existing and prospective customer and partner audiences.
Reporting to the Sr. Director of Corporate Events & Sponsorships, you will work closely with all parts of the Smartsheet organization and will play a key role within the marketing team. This role can be located remotely (in the U.S.) or in our Bellevue, WA headquarters.
You will:
Corporate Events:
- Develop and oversee the strategy for the Third Party corporate event portfolio, bringing together stakeholders from across the business to align on the mix of events needed annually to achieve business goals and impact.
- Oversee planning and production of the Third Party corporate events portfolio, partnering with teams internally and externally to successfully create and deliver assigned events.
- Manage event contracting/onboarding, logistics including attendee registration and housing, staffing coordination, on-site event execution, vendor management as needed, as well as driving the RoB of the planning process for each program end-to-end.
- Support development of content and marketing materials needed for each activation in conjunction with internal stakeholders.
- Influence the strategic design, execution, and post-event follow up and measurement on assigned event programs.
- Create, track, and manage the portfolio budget, and individual event budgets, within a defined and agreed +/- range.
- Manage Procurement, Finance and Legal teams to deliver timely execution of all related needs.
- Ensure that event portfolio strategy and programs which you manage are effective- meeting or exceeding agreed business goals and objectives and proving ROI for the business, and optimizing events and portfolio as/when needed.
Sponsorships:
- Oversee the strategic brand marketing sponsorships at Smartsheet, which includes existing partnerships with NHL team The Seattle Kraken and Climate Pledge Arena, and McLaren F1 Racing.
- Manage the existing portfolio to optimize current programs, including activations, ensuring contractual fulfillment of give/gets, and maintaining ongoing relationships with partner sponsor staff.
- Identify and vet new opportunities that support growth of the brand and the business, in partnership with the local Smartsheet marketing teams in EMEA and APAC when needed.
Also:
- Internal readiness: ensure appropriate and timely communication with executive team, stakeholders and staff regarding event/activation goals, responsibilities and priorities.
- Identify opportunities for process and event management improvements and develop new policies regarding implementing new procedures.
- Help to maintain and grow the Corporate Events and Sponsorship team as the Center of Excellence for event strategy and execution, by sharing subject matter expertise, providing guidance, and strategic direction when working with cross-functional business stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for improvements of the Corporate Events and Sponsorships Marketing team, our function, and the event discipline, working with stakeholders to prioritize and assess opportunities before determining which to action or implement.
- Support other duties as needed, including the broader Corporate Marketing team’s additional experiential marketing and project needs when they arise.
You have:
- 12+ years of experience in event management/planning.
- 8+ years of experience in a marketing function in a corporate environment.
- Experience in the Technology Industry helpful but not essential.
- Previous experience managing sponsorships helpful but not essential.
- Established track record of creating and delivering successful events from inception to finish.
- Ability to work effectively at all levels - with exceptional poise and executive maturity.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and driving strong work-back plans and milestones.
- Track record for solving complex problems, managing across many teams, and driving business results.
- Experience working with external vendors and third parties to produce and execute events.
- Ability to balance the need for creativity with a data-driven approach to measuring impact and success.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all deliverables.
- Proven results working with creative and production agencies.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Ability to travel, as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive incentive opportunity and some roles may be eligible for a RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $178,200 to $248,400 | All other US States: $165,000 to $230,000
