The role
Our Senior Software Developer will design and enhance Products within our Retirement Solutions division by leveraging technology to build new and existing applications for our internal business users. Developments must be efficient, robust, well tested and easy to use. You'll also support the end users of our pricing tools due to the end-to-end nature of the role.
What are we looking for?
The Commercial team is seeking proactive individuals to help drive efficiency in Retirement Solutions processes, particularly in the Bulk Purchase Annuity space. As a result, we have a phenomenal opportunity to join our team at an exciting time, as we shape our proposition and the way we work to support our growth ambition. The successful applicant must be fully committed and engaged in all stages of the development lifecycle, from design through to maintenance, and able to understand the business model and usage of our Products.
Essential:
Experience of software development in C# or Python is a key requirement, together with a strong understanding of a wide range of other technologies.
Experience of modern design patterns and approaches in delivering robust software solutions.
Experience of back-end data design and modelling.
You’ll develop new tools and models, and enhance and maintain the existing codebase.
You must be able to take a requirement from design through to release independently.
The ability to clearly communicate and work closely with users as part of an agile team is essential.
You'll maintain and develop appropriate test / regression packs to ensure good code coverage and robustness of the review process for tool releases.
You'll support the end users of all tools, including assisting with communication / training for and providing desktop support on live cases for internal business users.
You’ll be self-aware with the desire to exceed expectations and demonstrate resilience in overcoming challenges and determination to deliver results for the business.
Experience in the financial services industry.
Experience with cloud-based compute and storage services such as Azure Functions, Google Cloud Functions, AWS S3 and Azure Storage.
Strong understanding of the core principles of networking and application protocols such as TCP, IP, HTTP and HTTPS.
Experience with source control, CI/CD automation and testing frameworks.
